BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by GMA on Feb 14, 2020 9:31:43 GMT 1, I still find it so incredible that there are people who got offered it and for some reason or other, didn't pay, missed the email or just turned it down. I know £500 is still a lot of money, but I'd do anything I could to get the funds to purchase.
I also wonder how many people got caught out with seV2 and the "Comiserations" worded email, you wouldn't forgive yourself if you happened to ignore it 🤣🤣
Every email I've ever had from them I read, and read again. It just seems you have to because you just never know.

Yeah I reckon you're right, was tricky even keeping an eye on one email account let alone multiples by them chancers.
Not that people have started receiving their goods, I want to know what's next, they said on the site there will be plenty more opportunities....plenty, to purchase items in the coming months. I wonder if there's anything else to come. It would be great to see a set released. Timed release or something.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Deleted on Feb 14, 2020 10:58:15 GMT 1, Is the Banksquiat the same size what the GDP card on show at the store says it is? 81x84 Just wanted to confirm with the variation on the advertised edition. It is 70 cm wide and 75 cm high.. and I've measured it twice:)
Thanks, so I'm guessing the size on the shop card is the delivery package size.

I Think it was the size with frame. The package size was the print + 8 cm in each side = 70 + (8*2) = 86 cm and 75 + (8*2) = 91 cm..

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by sharpywesley on Feb 14, 2020 13:38:14 GMT 1, Hi Everyone been lurking here since I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a piece from the GDP sale. There are certainly some characters here and I am almost scared to post but I am going to brave it!I got the clock which I am delighted about. It hasn’t arrived yet, but when it does I wonder if anyone could give me any advice on how to display it. I obviously don’t want to keep it packed away as that seems pointless but equally if I just put it up on the wall I am going to be spending every evening on edge that it will plummet to the ground and smash into pieces. Im also conscious that it might suffer from being in the sunlight too long. I was thinking about some sort of perspex case that I could then secure to the wall? Any ideas on where I might look to get some help with this? Also I was thinking I may need to get it insured and was wondering if there were any educated guesses as to its potential value and where might be the best place to insure it. Many thanks in advance.

Nice win! Maybe the perspex in it is already UV safe (quite likely, going by the framing instructions with other GDP prints). In which case just hang it with the hooks provided. It's no more likely to fall off the wall than any other clock... or frame!
It's also just black ink on white, so not likely to fade, and the clock inside might be made in a way that is also unlikely to fade.

Congratulations! Definitely the first thing you should do is get it insured. I’ve no idea what the value of the clock would be, but I went with Hiscox for insurance on the Banksquiat (only because they’re the only art insurers I know). You’d probably be looking at £150-200 premium for the year, depending on how much insurance you want. You can always adjust it later if you go too low.
Some kind of Perspex box sounds a good framing idea. You could have it mounted in a box, then hang the box rather than the clock, so it’s more secure than an Ikea hook. A good framer should enjoy the challenge. You should really display it. A massive shame to have something so great and have it packed away.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Javier on Feb 14, 2020 14:10:36 GMT 1, Tomorrow I’m going to my framer. Personally not a fan of Perspex boxes but I think it would look the tits displayed behind UV glass in a deep box frame like you’d see canvases and guitars etc. Nice catch.

Dont do it
Take it to a proper framer. Not just a framer
A framer WILL damage it when it comes to removal
Whats the Latin for... oh dear i was warned not to but he is a nice guy and it looks good

I know he’s good, for sure the best in the city and kilometers around. But I don’t know his experience with prints and what you say, holding the print. That’s why I ask which are the “fatal errors” that should scare me and leave the place...

Don’t take the print with you. Tell him you want conservation framing and see what he says. Ask him what experience he has framing valuable works. Ask him to show you examples.
He might be great! You don’t have to be a big city framer to be good. But make sure you’re fully confident in him before you do anything. It’s not worth the risk of someone doing it badly.
On the red frame, it’s a very bold look and you might get bored with it. If you’re spending a lot on something you plan to keep for a long time, probably better to go simple. Simple almost always looks better.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Deleted on Feb 14, 2020 15:09:23 GMT 1, how much didn it cost to get banksquait insured? what did they/you value it at?
My insurance cost roughly £150. I didn’t have to put a value on it when I applied but went for £50k cover, which I figured was plenty.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by artstylechic on Feb 14, 2020 15:15:53 GMT 1, I am sorry if this has been discussed before and wasn’t sure where to post this so also posted this to the valuation thread. I also realize that no one knows the answer yet because none of pieces of hit the market, but I wanted to get your opinion on the secondary market prices of the following GDP pieces:
- Flower Thrower Print - Basquait (Grey / Black) - Rat Clock - Met Ball - Drones (Duck and Cover) - Early Learning Set - Spray Can
Which piece(s) do you think will be worth the most? Are the prints worth more than the sculpture pieces like the Clock and Ball in the long run?
Thanks in advance for your opinion and info!
- Cate

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by JL Broooks on Feb 14, 2020 15:18:39 GMT 1, Pay for a train trip to Madrid or Barcelona and take it to a reputable framer there (I dont know anyone, but for sure there are good framers there). It is going to pay off in the long run.
Make sure the framer do "100% reversible framing" and make him sign a statement where he guarantees this (I know it sounds a bit crazy, but any reputable framer will do this). With 100% reversible it means he uses 100% reversible hinges (i.e. the "tape" he mounts the print to the backboard on), usually this would be some kind of japanese hinges / rise paper. He can also use some kind of mount-corners (don't really know how that works).
And go for the best glass he has - should be 99% UV protection and should be hell expensive.. (about 300 gbp for the glass only).
About frame - just go for the GDP style or something else totally simple, like all white frame for example. You will not regret it. I would also go for "float mounted", rather than "matted" on this one, as there is very short distance between the signature and blind stamp to the edge of the print (it looks like..). In this case it is especially important that the hinges (the tape) is reversible (ref the japanese rise paper mentioned above).
Good luck.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by JL Broooks on Feb 14, 2020 15:36:11 GMT 1, Only concern on float mounting is that the print is probably quite heavy as it is on thick paper / board - a good framer should have some good thoughts on this. We have quite a few good framers in here on the forum so maybe they can chip in on this?

I’ve hung a iron from a single Hayaku hinge dude... they’re strong.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by artstylechic on Feb 14, 2020 15:52:59 GMT 1, I am sorry if this has been discussed before and wasn’t sure where to post this (so also posted this to the Artwork Valuation and GDP thread).
- Cate

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by withnail69 on Feb 14, 2020 17:47:03 GMT 1, We are delighted to let you know that your Banksy x Love Welcomes Welcome Mat has left the refugee camp in Greece and is on its way to our shipping warehouse. We expect your mat to leave our warehouse by Monday 24th and we will send you shipping details as soon as it is released and this will include your tracking number. The arrival date of your mat will then depend on your location. In advance of your mat arriving Banksy has shared an important message for all recipients saying “Your mat is a hand made piece of art and should ideally be used for display purposes only. We would advise against walking on it extensively or rubbing dirty boots on it repeatedly. Avoid vacuuming and clean gently using a canister of pressured air.”

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by als33 on Feb 14, 2020 18:37:24 GMT 1, I got a set of the cushions - I'm not interested in getting my pictures stolen and posted all over the internet by scammers, but I'm happy to give some info about them:
- I didn't hit on the first round - these were from the "second chance/somebody didn't pay" emails that went out on 12/3
- Shipping was expensive (135 GBP to the US)
- I received an email from Flight Logistics on 1/23 and the cushions were delivered on 1/27
- The cushions themselves are light gray flannel and the stencil is in the same colors as what's on the GDP site.
- The cushions definitely seem like they're new (and they match). I'm curious how much variation there is between cushion sets. Also, they have no labels sewn on like you typically see on cushions you buy.
- The number on the tag is the order number
- Yesterday, I received an email from GDP that read:
I thought that email was interesting and pretty cool. I'm curious since I haven't been able to find any instances of someone else getting these, and if the Banksquiat prints are any indication, each set of items should be delivered around roughly the same time, and I would think that most people who were getting these would already have them
