BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by als33 on Feb 14, 2020 18:51:34 GMT 1, Yeah, he's a really good guy, and not as much into art as I am (and was put off a bit by the shipping cost) so he was happy to take a chance and throw in - had I gotten the thrower, he probably would have kept the pillows, but was happy to pass them along to me knowing they'd get a good home.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Javier on Feb 14, 2020 21:32:18 GMT 1, Pay for a train trip to Madrid or Barcelona and take it to a reputable framer there (I dont know anyone, but for sure there are good framers there). It is going to pay off in the long run. Make sure the framer do "100% reversible framing" and make him sign a statement where he guarantees this (I know it sounds a bit crazy, but any reputable framer will do this). With 100% reversible it means he uses 100% reversible hinges (i.e. the "tape" he mounts the print to the backboard on), usually this would be some kind of japanese hinges / rise paper. He can also use some kind of mount-corners (don't really know how that works). And go for the best glass he has - should be 99% UV protection and should be hell expensive.. (about 300 gbp for the glass only). About frame - just go for the GDP style or something else totally simple, like all white frame for example. You will not regret it. I would also go for "float mounted", rather than "matted" on this one, as there is very short distance between the signature and blind stamp to the edge of the print (it looks like..). In this case it is especially important that the hinges (the tape) is reversible (ref the japanese rise paper mentioned above). Good luck.
Thanks a lot. Really really thanks

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by eleuterio2020 on Feb 14, 2020 21:42:28 GMT 1, I am sorry if this has been discussed before and wasn’t sure where to post this so also posted this to the valuation thread. I also realize that no one knows the answer yet because none of pieces of hit the market, but I wanted to get your opinion on the secondary market prices of the following GDP pieces: - Flower Thrower Print - Basquait (Grey / Black) - Rat Clock - Met Ball - Drones (Duck and Cover) - Early Learning Set - Spray Can Which piece(s) do you think will be worth the most? Are the prints worth more than the sculpture pieces like the Clock and Ball in the long run? Thanks in advance for your opinion and info! - Cate My idea for the prints is 70-80 KEuro for the Thrower and 40-50 KEuro for the Basquait ,based on dimensions, numbers of edition and latest quotations on Christies and few others auction houses sites
It seems that all the numbered editions are below 100K, and for that less more you can get an original piece.
Private gallery sites do not show prices without paying registration, but the few I found confirmed what above.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by tab1 on Feb 15, 2020 3:18:50 GMT 1, Tomorrow I’m going to my framer. Aesthetically he’s a really good one, and technically I suppose so, but I never took him a print. What things should scare me in case I see him doing? And second question... what about a hard red frame? I think it can be quite interesting with the black... or a total Sh%#{);t Frame how it how you would like it , it will be in your private home and for your own viewing pleasure ,no matter how wacky it may be to others here no one here will be viewing ,with regards to framing how ever much you spend it will add no value to the print and if sold in the future buyers now tend to ask for an inspection report and want viewings unframed

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by artstylechic on Feb 15, 2020 4:21:45 GMT 1, Thanks for the estimates on the prints! These estimates for the prints are in line with the prices I figured the would be valued at. I also think the Triptych Thrower could be more since it's so unique and one of Banksy's most famous images.
Would anyone care to guess the value of the non print pieces, specifically the Met Ball or the Rat Clock?

As classic thrower wins. But artistically this is... superior. Considering both things soon they will be equal in market

But... my question for you legends who know so much about all things Banksy and art is this; I was fortunate enough to win the cushions and they look amazing. I had planned to frame them without the cushion itself insert but there are no zips so I'm wondering how you would display these so they remain protected and look great. Any help greatly appreciated.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Javier on Feb 15, 2020 11:43:46 GMT 1, Nice talk to my framer. They are used to deal with expensive art pieces, and they work for the modern art museum of the region. They told me to go there and be in the workshop to see what materials they use and how they work, so I can be confident on their work. Everything acid free, highest quality, and about “Japanese hinges” or something like that I heard about here the women on the phone didn’t know what to tell me about, she just knew in the workshop they work with something Japanese but she didn’t know, better myself asking the workshop I forgot to talk about the glass but that’s something I won’t forget in my visit there. I remember having seen anti reflective there, but never before did care about UV Thanks for all your support. You are a wonderful people!!!

Fully reversible is the term i think
When they take the print back out of the frame in years to come, the print needs to look like it has never been framed

the thrower is 110 x 210 (based on the photos proportion I estimate 90x60 80x110 50x60) and the flowers one already has market value and quotations
Basquiat is more or less 80x80
Anyway, if we got something is because at the question "Why does art matter?" we did not reply "MONEYYYYYYY"......

I think you will find each colour will now be an edition of 300. ie, black 1-300, grey 1-300.

Yeah, good for all of you that won a "Banksquait" print or that know so much about the "Basquait" art market. Binsky and Basquait are such great artists indeed.
Obviously I´m just still jealous...

My idea for the prints is 70-80 KEuro for the Thrower and 40-50 KEuro for the Basquait ,based on dimensions, numbers of edition and latest quotations on Christies and few others auction houses sites It seems that all the numbered editions are below 100K, and for that less more you can get an original piece. Private gallery sites do not show prices without paying registration, but the few I found confirmed what above. 23 hours ago artstylechic said: I am sorry if this has been discussed before and wasn’t sure where to post this so also posted this to the valuation thread. - Cate Read more: urbanartassociation.com/thread/159909/banksy-gross-domestic-product?page=431#ixzz6E1r1be48Being a non native speaker I definitely make lots of spelling mistakes myself. I normally don´t care at all, but it really annoys me how often I have to read the words "Basquait" or "Banksquait" in this thread.
Yeah, good for all of you that won a "Banksquait" print or that know so much about the "Basquait" art market. Binsky and Basquait are such great artists indeed.
Obviously I´m just still jealous...

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by GMA on Feb 15, 2020 15:54:59 GMT 1, Prints say 300. By now I heard about three numbers, all above 150. Still don’t know of below is grey or also black... I think you will find each colour will now be an edition of 300. ie, black 1-300, grey 1-300.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by chefd on Feb 15, 2020 16:47:15 GMT 1, I understand and may agree on your point on comparable artistical value, anyway for what I found about quotations "size does matter". the thrower is 110 x 210 (based on the photos proportion I estimate 90x60 80x110 50x60) and the flowers one already has market value and quotations Basquiat is more or less 80x80 Anyway, if we got something is because at the question "Why does art matter?" we did not reply "MONEYYYYYYY"...... and more important.... Basquiat 250 edition, Thrower 100 edition Regarding the Thrower, I have only seen the website stating something along the lines of "100 available now" back when submissions were being taken. The printed showcard stated simple "from an edition".
I have a feeling the true number will be closer to 300 when all is said and done, and this isn't including the hand finished variant that is supposedly coming at some point.
