BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by gross on Mar 4, 2020 15:57:55 GMT 1, Hi Everyone been lurking here since I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a piece from the GDP sale. There are certainly some characters here and I am almost scared to post but I am going to brave it!I got the clock which I am delighted about. It hasn’t arrived yet, but when it does I wonder if anyone could give me any advice on how to display it. I obviously don’t want to keep it packed away as that seems pointless but equally if I just put it up on the wall I am going to be spending every evening on edge that it will plummet to the ground and smash into pieces. Im also conscious that it might suffer from being in the sunlight too long. I was thinking about some sort of perspex case that I could then secure to the wall? Any ideas on where I might look to get some help with this? Also I was thinking I may need to get it insured and was wondering if there were any educated guesses as to its potential value and where might be the best place to insure it. Many thanks in advance.
Hi Have you won the lottery or you bought it a full asking price?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by sharpywesley on Mar 5, 2020 10:32:37 GMT 1, Im not sure what you mean by won the lottery or paid full asking price? I didn't hear anything initially but then had an email saying that due to people not completing their orders I was next in the queue if I still wanted to buy. The clock was £500 and the postage was £50. Still waiting for an email regarding despatch.

Wouldn't an acrylic box get in the way of the door opening? Better be strong if you're going to walk on it every time you enter the house

I’ve had an offer of $45,000 all the way up to $70,000 and I still said no. Doesn’t mean someone else might not take an offer between those numbers

Firstly congratulations on scoring in the lottery - it’s great to see you are getting this framed.
Just some general framing principles with something of this value:
1. Make sure you go to a conservation framer who uses full conservation grade materials. If they ask you what you mean then go somewhere else. There are a number of recommendations for good framers on this forum. If you are in London, Pauli in Acton and Darbyshires in Islington are both great.
2. Insist that you don’t want any kind of tape used - if you are float mounting the print, Japanese hinges with wheatpaste are best whereas if you are mounting make sure the corners of the print are held securely with Mylar corners. If you decide at some point in the future you want to sell the print, you need the process to be fully reversible.
3. Given the black background on this print I would strongly advise using non-reflective UV acrylic or museum glass. Both will be more expensive than standard UV glass but reflections will be minimal and will allow you to enjoy the print up close without having to stare at yourself. If I was in your shoes then given the size of this piece i would go for the UV acrylic as it will be the safer option as you don’t risk it being broken. The additional cost of non-reflective materials will be well worthwhile.
I hope this helps, I’m sure others will also comment - feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Deleted on Mar 7, 2020 9:59:50 GMT 1, Would you frame it like the show, or black on black..
I’d think I’d go for simple black on black on this one
Image is so powerful anyway, no need for coloured mounts
