Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by runyaga on Feb 5, 2007 16:42:55 GMT 1, Hopefully either someone can learn from this experience. Towards the end I will be a bit technical (hopefully someone from POW will be listening)
I had a Micallef Judgement Day in my shopping basket. (Have the screenshot to prove it *wink*) Then I went to check out which I encountered a problem -- either my CC vendor said "No" or there was some other type of error. Regardless this is where the lesson is to learnt.
The current POW system is not capable of "unf@#king" itself once it attempts to do a checkout. Because the "Order Ref" number that is tied to your basket is being passed to payment processor. If they *ever* see that number again they will throw an error on VendorTX code has been repeated.
This means that if you have *any* problem during the payment stage you are fscked. Your only chance will be to CLEAR YOUR COOKIES and start from scratch (you can imagine how pissed I was ;-)
The Gory Details:
Simply removing contents in your basket will not be enough. Because once your basket is created you get a "Order Ref" number. This Order Ref number is what they pass off to their third party payment processing guys. This is the problem; the existing basket is tied via session to the order ref. So until your basket "goes" away you have this reference number. But the third party vendor doesnt want to use this reference number because they had a problem with it.
What probably should happen is:
- There should not be a Order Ref number that is created upon adding items into your basket. (Unless you are going to honor people like myself who are having problems)
- The Order Ref is really a "transaction reference" which should be generated upon clicking the "purchase on 3rd party site" button.
- This way if there is an error you can bail out the transaction reference number (order ref) and have another go.
In my experience a order reference number is such that customer support can help a customer with their order *wink* Unfortunately POW is not the most responsive of organizations.

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by romanywg on Feb 5, 2007 16:48:10 GMT 1, [Edit] I saw the answer - scratch that! It all happened pretty quick but I was surprised on the numbers there were that I could remember. All in double figures and I think it might have been as many as 30 JD's.

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by slowmo on Feb 5, 2007 16:49:14 GMT 1, It looks like Panda's dont rock that much afterall, less than 100 sold. I like this counter thing they have put in. got one on the wall, rocks big time. Isn't it a bit hard to judge the quality of art buy the number of sales (or not sales)? eye of the beholder and all that stuff..... Wouldn't that just indicate popularity (or false popularity in some cases)? Or saleability on ebay later on this afternoon?
Didnt mean anything as deep as that. Just thought it was funny that pandas didnt rock like other things, such as Grey Bears!

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by pawl on Feb 5, 2007 16:53:11 GMT 1, I saw 31 JD's when I bought mine -
didn't even look at the other Micallefs as I assumed they were sold out long ago.
bet POW are making up for their lack of sales for the last month today!

Thankyou for the advice, I just had to empty my basket and then try to be fast enough to catch them again. Unfortunately I missed a Micallef, the system is good but the customer reference thing is PROBLEMATIC

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by daz205 on Feb 5, 2007 17:01:00 GMT 1, why should`nt you be able to buy 4 different prints at once from 1 artist i`ve been after some michaleff since i saw them at the park bar i`ll admit i`ll be trying to trade some for other micaleffs i like more eg. self portrait, head and FF i cant see a problem with this. and why was no one complaining when you could have bought 4 eric il caine (sp?) etc

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by finsburyparkranger on Feb 5, 2007 17:03:07 GMT 1, Yeah I can't believe the lucy Mc Mlauchlan forest print has not sold out already. Its a great print. Unlike so many of the other prints it has a timeless quality about it. Its one of the prints i dare say i will have on the kitchen wall for years to come. Her work is very collectable - all her prints seem to compliment each other. I like.

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by stylus on Feb 5, 2007 17:03:43 GMT 1, Agreed - I had the same cutomer ref issue - and it sorted itself out after 10 mins or so.
Whilst it will be a mixed bag today: Some happy (those who managed to buy) and some sad (those who didn't), I hope that most people will agree that the website has been massively improved over what we were faced with the last time a Banksy piece came up.
Other than the minor glitches - which I think will prove to be coding teething issues for the PoW team - I didn't see the website fall over once today, due to traffic overload.
This begs the next question.... will they simply release the next Banksy LA print on the website Business As Usual (rathe rthan the lottery)?

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by foundation on Feb 5, 2007 17:05:51 GMT 1, Silky, something needs to be done with t w a t s like this. When so obviously flaunting that he/she a carpet bagger, then please ban them from the forum. Some people are easily wound up.... I'm bored just waiting for the 3D to go on sale... But yeah - I would have resold the Micallefs if I could have done - nearly as overrated as the Banksy LA prints (which are a load of tat) unfortunatly the 2 3d bits that are worth picking up already have sold out next to them....

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by RBK on Feb 5, 2007 17:06:03 GMT 1, If Banksy took a s**t and wiped it onto some 250gsm I bet it would sell out in seconds.
Know this is a stab in the dark (can't blame me for trying) but anyone who is lucky enough to have doubles of FF or JD and wants to sell one to me for a reasonable price please PM me.

note: you'll note in my earlier posts, I said "high demand prints".
so it's cool if you are itching to get your hands on a Bansky print (for example), they all are released simultaneously and you are refreshing away like mad, staying up late, etc. You've been trying for a year now.
you miss out and get none. I get 4.
You OK with that? Sound like a well planned out system that makes your customers happy?
If the popular opinion is the above, then I need to go to sleep.

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by blacksy on Feb 5, 2007 17:12:44 GMT 1, I cant believe it - I managed to bag a Micallef! only went for one couldnt belive i got it in the basket - so went straight through to pay incase of any problems. Once you get an order number do you get any other kind of confirmation from POW? or is it just the waiting game now until the day the print arrives?
Save my Soul - seems quite appropriate considering how all i've done for the entirety of the day is press refresh! well worth booking a day off work for!!
Really did want a friendly fire - but it would seem none were available -

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by Michael Jacob on Feb 5, 2007 17:14:53 GMT 1, I was lucky enough to get a Save My Soul. All I really want is a Banksy. If anyone wants to apply my SMS towards a Banksy trade, Id be very grateful. I really like Love is in the air, Jack and Jill, and Trolley Hunters (but am open to any). Ive got cash to cover the difference. Thanks.

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by manchestermike on Feb 5, 2007 17:15:28 GMT 1, blacksy - I've made a few seperate transactions with PoW today and had no 'official' word from them yet... but the payment processor has said it's gone through and I've got a print number for each print I've bought - so I'm not worried. I suppose it's going to take them a few days to sort the orders out, but the new system seems to work
And don't worry about the wait, I'm still waiting on a print from November and one from December too - they all arrive in the end ;D

Anyone else waiting for 5th Feb?, by pezlow on Feb 5, 2007 17:15:54 GMT 1, Missed out on the Micallef completely - just went in seconds. Picked up a McLaughlan forest which I am very excited about. Looks as if POW may have a few McLaughlan hanging around which they may put up? Also picked an Insect Sex Toy and the Eine Pink Train so I am reasonably happy.
