Art market after Corona crisis, by nobokov on May 12, 2020 14:47:11 GMT 1, You'd think it'd be a lot easier these days to tag up a wall. If they get caught, they probably wouldn't be put in prison. But then again, no one would probably see the tags since everyone is supposed to be at home.
If a street artist tags in the streets and no one is around to see it, is the tag really there?

Just wild speculation.

I'm wondering how galleries and artfairs see this situation.

Art market after Corona crisis, by Pawel on May 13, 2020 11:10:09 GMT 1, It's hard to say what's going to happen. Some say recession, unemployment, prices going down. This makes sense. Others say inflation rates are going to go sky rocket as countries will just print money, which would help them managing the increased debts. That would mean that people would try to put the cash in anything of value to prevent the inflation from eating their savings. Which kinda makes sense too. Would art be one of those things? Possibly, but there are stocks, properties and other stuff to chose from.

Art market after Corona crisis, by Born Again on May 13, 2020 11:43:31 GMT 1, Stocks are out of the question at this point. Commodities, perhaps. Real estate, too, perhaps. Blue chip art, perhaps. I think there may be a strange mixture of increased sales but also increased interest at the higher end. Anything under 5-10k will likely take a hit in the short term. Like everything though, itโll all bounce back and in 5 years weโll be wishing we went harder whilst prices were down haha

Cheaper prices for collectors ! Unknownโ artists after a few Popular releases Are charging ยฃ500-ยฃ1000 For prints! Compared to same type of unknown up and coming artists 10-13 years ago stik and whatson were charging ยฃ25-ยฃ200 for canvases !
Maybe a good time for re adjustments With vault sales tied to market prices might pick up good deals in the future ๐

Art market after Corona crisis, by Pawel on May 13, 2020 12:53:21 GMT 1, If the whole world is in recession, then none of it is.
If the whole world is in debt, then none of it is.
Because money isn't real.
What's real is a) stuff (resources), and b) services (labour).
Money is just a theoretical system of tokens to shuffle a) and b) around.

Art market after Corona crisis, by drip on May 13, 2020 13:22:40 GMT 1, What Has happened to that other actor ?! Completely disappeared I got briefly stuck in a revolving door with Jeremy Irons once. Y'know how sometimes you get excited and just push the door too much, so you end up going around more than you need to? And there's someone else in another section of the door, and you're making them go around and around too? And that person's Jeremy Irons? Yeah, that.
He is super lovely though. Incredibly handsome in the flesh, and very understanding.

Money is just a theoretical system of tokens to shuffle a) and b) around. One of the most acute reflection about Money.๐ We will study it in schools
