Help , can't decide, by pottsy11 on Aug 23, 2020 0:13:28 GMT 1, Hi. First sorry for posting this here but it's where most people seem to go to now. I have a chance to obtain a Toxic Mary or Bomb Middle England for similar prices (not from forum and just under 20k GBP ) . Most of you guys on here have waaayyyy more knowledge and experience than me with these prints. In your opinions which one is your fav , which at those prices is best value and which will appreciate ( on my wall ) the best . Thank you in advance.

Help , can't decide, by Coach on Aug 23, 2020 0:23:38 GMT 1, Blimey! Go for the one you want to hang. How on earth can anyone predict which will appreciate more? And why would that trump your appreciation of the aesthetics of each piece? If I had your fortunate dilemma, Iโd choose BME all day long. But only because itโs one of my favourite Banksy prints. I have no clue whether it will appreciate more.

Help , can't decide, by BME on Aug 23, 2020 0:54:43 GMT 1, Wow - nice problem to have, theyโre both classic images. Iโve always loved Bomb Middle England and it comes up for sale less frequently than Toxic Mary, so that would be my tip. Thereโs no wrong answer here though - both will look great on the wall.

Help , can't decide, by bdr79 on Aug 23, 2020 1:11:33 GMT 1, I remember asking a similar question 5 or 6 years ago.
I had the money to make a Banksy purchase, and the 2 prints i liked the most were NBG and VLH, then I offered S&S. They were all in the same sorta price band.
I think advice then was same as now, buy what you like. No one knows which one will climb the fastest.
VLH...my favourite of the 3. That's what I opted for.
There were times over the years I was like the wee green eyed monster watching Dorothy and the NYPD rocket in value.
Unless you are incredibly comfortable, I think it's understandable to factor in which might see the greatest return, especially when you look at how much prints cost these days.
That said, Im glad i have VLH and not SS to look at.....it's just never done it for me.
Personally I'd go for BME over TM. I'm with Plurker...TM doesn't do it for me, but I can't really articulate why.
Like BME says nice problem to have!
Good luck buddy.

I guess it comes down to what your motivation is in respect of your art collecting. If itโs to make money, try to work out what will rise in price. Good luck. If itโs to build a collection of art that you adore, then let your love of the art prevail.

Everything I have, I bought because i really liked it....at the time.
You ever look at some stuff when your life has changed, you've gotten older or tastes have changed and you don't love it so much?
I sometimes see some art and think "Yeah thats cool" and can see the kind of setting it would look great in. Some sort of warehouse converted apartment in a Shoreditch/Dalston (of old), but know that it wouldn't look so cool in a family home with a 5 and 7 year old running about!
I still love Harland's 'On me, not in me' and 'health & safety...' but i don't really want to explain to a 7 year old what Bondage is, or explain at parents night why my eldest was asking about Bondage in class time!

Help , can't decide, by LJCal on Aug 23, 2020 2:11:54 GMT 1, If youโre looking at it commercially Iโd say BME is a better choice. Itโs a smaller edition, has bright, vibrant colours, and is a more accessible image. Both are quite political pieces but I think TM is too provocative for some collectors (although this exactly what some collectors love about Banksy). If youre planning on keeping it to display then obviously think what will give you most pleasure now but also in the future (your tastes and circumstances will change).

Isnโt that the truth. Had to take down my Save or Delete poster because of the kids.
As for this choice, I think Toxic Mary is a nicer image but not sure it is as wall friendly.

Value wise - maybe bme is better - but buy what you like, not what it might be worth in x years time.
You are unlikely to lose either way.

Help , can't decide, by Mass on Aug 23, 2020 9:39:34 GMT 1, I have bomb middle England, very under rated, itโs great to look at, good size the colouring is subtle with the green banding, the detailing on the grannies as special as you would expect with a Banksy. I have this and flags framed, another print which until very recently was good value.

Help , can't decide, by eyectopus on Aug 23, 2020 10:13:58 GMT 1, I would choose the Bomb Middle England also.
Bomb Middle England and Toxic Mary are my favourite Banksy prints. I think Toxic Mary is very striking and it is one print I would love to have. I was close to purchasing one a few years ago, but my kids were uncomfortable with the image. There are so many ways that it can be interpreted also, so great for discussion.
With Bomb Middle England the colours and format are really nice. The printing is really cool. I love the over spray around the images in the print.
With the Toxic Mary it has the drips and the image going into the lower border which looks great and has the same format as a number of other prints.
Bomb Middle England prints are thought to be rarer also as they were early and were not expensive to purchase. Some would have been damaged by framing etc. as they were not considered valuable at the time.

Value wise, no idea whatsoever, LJCal knows his onions, see above, might be worth a PM to discuss?
For me, Bomb Middle England all day long if I was choosing between the two. Perhaps have a wander over to the Banksy section of the site to see some great examples framed up.
All the best with securing either.

BME, nice safe print, also Landscape, so could get WSM and a HAND when fortune favours you and have a lovely set
Good problem to have and thanks for sharing

The fact you're asking the question suggests you aren't particularly enchanted by the idea of having to look at them either, and maybe caution is the best policy here. I know there's a temptation to think that any ticket for the Banksy train is better than no ticket at all, but I think you can do better.

1) Rude Copper.... 2) VLH... 3) Napalm... 4) NBG... 5) Monkey Queen....(5th spot was almost filled by Nola or QV)
Feel free to judge
