My Art Broker, by rasco57 on Nov 24, 2020 13:30:27 GMT 1, Hi all, has anyone used MyArt Broker to sell prints? I am looking to sell my Banksy Trolleys, I had asked for ideas of value some time ago, however now is the right time for me. I have been given a rough valuation by MAB, just wanted to hear your views.
TIA

Offer it up here and see what comes back.
Thereโs plenty of buyers for Banksy at the moment. ๐๐ผ

My Art Broker, by Deleted on Nov 24, 2020 13:38:20 GMT 1, Spoke to them when I was considering selling Donuts last year. They were very nice and seemed trustworthy and professional, but the price they suggested sounded low, even by market levels at the time. They thought a higher price was unrealistic. I chose to sell with Christies instead and ultimately made about ยฃ12,000 more than I would have with MAB*.
If you sell with them you have the benefit of knowing exactly what price you'll get, but I don't think they'll get you the best price.
*If I'd waited a year I'd have probably doubled my money, but let's not talk about that

My Art Broker, by Pistol on Nov 24, 2020 14:05:48 GMT 1, Sell it privately, any dealer will offer you as little as they can get away with. Obviously it makes sense for them to do so!

My Art Broker, by Pistol on Nov 24, 2020 15:34:44 GMT 1, What you have to remember is that prices privately and prices from galleries/dealers donโt vary that much these days. If a dealer wants to sell a print at the going rate he has to buy it for less than the going rate.

If a dealer wants to sell a print at the going rate he has to buy it for less than the going rate. I'm no expert in this field at all, so I wonder if you know the answer on this. When I approached a couple of places about selling a Banksy print I was expecting them to suggest a sale price that they'd take commission on. Instead, more than one said they would buy the print from me at a set price, well below market value. Is it usual for a dealer to buy, rather than act as a seller who takes a cut of the price they get?

My Art Broker, by Pistol on Nov 24, 2020 16:22:03 GMT 1, Yes that is quite normal! They also know nowadays that if it doesnโt sell and they hang on to it for a while the chances are itโs value will increase.

My Art Broker, by Dubman on Nov 24, 2020 16:23:32 GMT 1, Sell it on the Forum, you will need extra due care and diligence but you will maximise the value.
A trader /dealer will buy it low and flip it for what you should have sold it for (++)!, same with galleries, most of them are piss takers but thats the model so can't at really blame them.
I've successfully bought and sold on here (most times somewhere between hammer price and end price with fees etc), its a bit of work filtering out the jokers and clowns who think no one but them knows the value of the piece, so will try to take the piss - but as ever the serious buyers will be out there and you'll find the market value.
There are honest members on here, who are trustworthy (and some sharks), but ask for forum references, take numbers, get ID and use your loaf.
Put it up on here first off, see how it lands - worst case you take it to the trade thereafter.
Good luck.

My Art Broker, by samfrost on Nov 24, 2020 16:28:30 GMT 1, Have sold prints via them painlessly and purchased high value works from them as well. All professional dealings, would recommend having a good idea on price before negotiating. As with any platform, there always is a game with 0% commission vs. commission (usually end up at the same area). Private sales are not the same levels as retail/auctions or "forum sales".

My Art Broker, by artforartssake on Nov 26, 2020 11:19:50 GMT 1, For a print like Trollies, don't bother with any broker. When I mooted selling mine on the forum a month or so ago there was strong demand and there are no-nonsense buyers out there that offer a good price straight up so no need to deal with the bargain hunters.
