The "one that got away" for 2020, by kuni on Dec 23, 2020 16:19:49 GMT 1, Looking back on the year, anything you regret not purchasing this year?
For me it's the Jan Kalab mini canvases. The colors are incredibly vivid, the edition #'s are incredibly low, and they look great as a set of 3. I remember looking at them and thinking "you should grab that set for the long hallway" and then forgetting about it until I saw Charlie Bronson post them.
Looking back on the year, anything you regret not purchasing this year? For me it's the Jan Kalab mini canvases. I didn't pull the trigger (could have bid $1,501) but wish I had as I definitely can't get an original for that price anymore (if at all).

I couldn't justify the price with some other stuff I'd just bought, but he's one of my favourite artists. I should have just done it.

I donโt have a Whatson piece, and tbh Iโm not the biggest fan of his work, but I really liked these butterfly sculpture pieces and if I was to ever own a Whatson, this would be the one. Had an invoice for one of the eleven medium size versions he made, but passed on it. Needless to say the whole series sold out right away. I had the perfect spot for it and regret not pulling the trigger.

I feel this one. It didn't get away as I didn't actually try for it, but after seeing the pics I wish I had. Looks like a real painting.

Price was something weโd all probably be happy to pay today and just before the madness. One of my favourites, so sad to have missed it.

Yeah his market mooned over the course of 3 months - must have been a good auction results or two and the rest is history. There were a few other artists I follow that had similar years...all of the sudden they were out of reach by a factor of 10. Where waiting even a month on a canvas made all of the difference.

I didnโt jump on it because of the duty but I should have. Anyways it sat for months and then I guess someone found it and bought it. Just bought a house so hard to spend $2500 on a print when that could buy me a washer/dryer and a new faucet.
