Amazing list - particularly Vivienne Sasson - she has beautiful photo books too.

Photography - Recommendations, by Lroy on Feb 27, 2021 18:54:19 GMT 1, Hi all, Looking for recommendations of great photographers... any ideas? Thanks! It depends of the style... there are millions..
Street-art, portraits, classical, art, nudes, street, b/w, decay, abandonned space, countrsyside, see, towns, urban life, Nepal, Peru, singers, photoshopped, montage etc etc.. You will have to google a lot of names hé !;
romanywg who is a friend of mine, made great street-art photographies ( because of him, we have also known Arzy, Roa, C215 and Uk ones... Now he is more in artsitic nudes photos - still in old factories or abandoned places ) ... A lot of Banksy are credited by him too... When I met him, we even don't speak of that... I like particulary his Zorro !
I put the link ( I like this editor a lot, they sold awesome Boxes/books with statues of Cement eclipses aka Isacc Cordal ) where you can buy some of his book ( all mines are dedicated and "Thumbprinted" with his dna fingerprint... )
In the old chaps and legends : Rober Franck and Bruce Davidson
In the French etc etc ... don't forget JR
What a thread ! bon courage !

Photography - Recommendations, by gd79 on Mar 6, 2021 11:16:59 GMT 1, There are so many avenues you can go down, and have a huge amount of fun. I have a mix of portrait, abstract, fashion and contemporary up on the walls. Hung properly, they can look great together.
For research and dipping a toe in, I would recommend looking at online photography book shops (a few I buy from - photobookstore, photo eye books, editions bessard, le bal, Stanley Barker). You can then see a lot of different photographers and styles. I often tend to buy a book from any artist I haven't heard of that catches my eye. That's step 1 in deciding whether to buy something more substantial.
Also, many photographers release 'special edition' books including a small limited print (sometimes as limited as /25). These don't need to cost much, and are a great way to build a wide range. A lot of these have ended up on my wall, often you can buy a smaller version of a real signature image. Examples: Todd Hido, Daisuke Yokota, Alex Prager.
Another good, cheap way to get prints is via larger releases of small prints. Magnum Square prints is the best known, but many artists will have things on their website too (or their gallery will have a few entry level pieces). And try artists direct - I have a great image from Daisy Walker bought recently, and some cool prints from Dive Jedi
Finally, the large, small edition pieces. I only buy for the artists I really like (and generally have cheaper works from, as above). I have bought mostly from Michael Hoppen, but you can also look at the auction houses. Some photographers only look good in large format. Here I have Alex Prager, Ellen Von Unwerth, Juno Calypso, Sohei Nishino, Mary McCartney, Tim Walker, Jo Szabo, Muybridge.
Hopefully a few names and ideas to work with...
Have fun!
