ebay/paypal advice plaese, by sm on May 23, 2008 14:50:42 GMT 1, Hey, I just sold a piece on ebay and the auction was won by somebody with no feedback. They made a paypal payment instantly otherwise i would have requested bank transfer only. I should have put a condition regarding minimum feedback but forgot. what's the best way to protect myself against fraud now? Cheers Scott

ebay/paypal advice plaese, by sm on May 23, 2008 15:13:18 GMT 1, I just checked paypal and it says that I'm eligible for Seller Protection Policy provided I send to the confirmed address and therefore would not be held liable if the buyer claims the money back. does this sound right??
sorry am a novice when it come to selling so would appreciate any advice. not sure if I'm just being a paranoid freak after reading all your horror stories.

ebay/paypal advice plaese, by Guest on May 23, 2008 15:16:16 GMT 1, If your protected for the full amount, make sure you send the parcel registered and insured for the full value. Also get the buyer to confirm his address by email.

ebay/paypal advice plaese, by Montubu7 on May 23, 2008 15:40:44 GMT 1, Technically if you offered paypal you should accept it but if you have concerns ask them politely to pay via a different method & see what they say, if they have a unconfirmed address & with zero feedback i would NOT send unless they pay via another method or until they confirm their address. If they do not have a confirmed address asking them to confirm their address in an email will be no use in a dispute as paypal will dismiss it in the same way when people leave feedback for an item received & then claim its not received paypal pay no attention to the feedback. An email confirming the address would be useful in case you do send & they rip you off you then have the info in an email for any further action above & beyond paypal ( small claims ect ect)

ebay/paypal advice plaese, by sm on May 23, 2008 17:18:25 GMT 1, cool, thanks for the advice. think I'll just accept the paypal payment and send special delivery to the confirmed address. My fault really for being daft, I'll know better next time and just sell on the forum. I recently just bought from a forum member and the whole process was a breeze, great price, good communication and no bureaucracy. live and learn.
