The Street Phantom, by Baurmann Gallery on May 12, 2008 21:11:29 GMT 1, The Street Phantom just came down to San Diego and executed a commissioned portrait of myself. I was blown away by the results for sure and am extremely appreciative he did such an amazing personalized piece for my collection…it measures 7ft x 13ft and is on 3 separate panels of paper.
I'll post up the process photos shortly...
I hope to offer a few originals through my gallery soon as well as publish a series of multiples/editions, though those details need to be worked out further.
Here is the album cover he did for Rage Against The Machine [which is a portrait of Tom Morello].
Here are some videos with him painting:
Rage Against the Machine: Bulls on Parade
Rage Against the Machine: Renegades of Funk

The Street Phantom, by Baurmann Gallery on May 14, 2008 20:03:55 GMT 1, Sorry…The Phantom just clarified it for me…in the Rage Against the Machine video, “Bulls on Parade” Tom Morello is wearing the “Libertyville” jacket and is in the portraits, but Zach De La Roca’s portrait is actually the one featured on the cover of “Battle of Los Angeles”.

The Street Phantom, by Baurmann Gallery on May 14, 2008 20:18:51 GMT 1, I am going to have to frame in it’s entirely versus on 3 separate framed panels, so yeah…that’s going to take an expensive custom framing job, but with how happy I am on the piece, I look forward to get it hanging properly!
Thanks for the compliments too…
The Phantom has been putting it down for a long time but has always been extremely difficult to obtain. I have been trying to add one of his pieces to my collection for years…
After a few other channels did not work, I asked MEAR to introduce us, as MEAR and The Phantom have know each other for a long time, meeting after SK8 originally introduced them many years back. MEAR finally linked us together, which I appreciated for sure!
Here is a pic of the Phantom I found when scanning MEAR’s old street photos…

The Street Phantom, by Heavyconsumer on May 14, 2008 20:51:43 GMT 1, I just don't "get it" I don't wish to cause offense, but I actually thought this might be a joke when I first read the initial post and just had no idea what to write. I feel that this confirms my thought that an established artist could take a dump, put it up for sale and people would spend big bucks on it!

From the Phantom:
Your shared thoughts were too late as Pierre Manzoni before the Street Phantom in 1961, sold his own shit in Cans. Manzoni challenged the very notion of authenticity of the artwork.
Today that Manzoni shit in a can sells for huge sums but for a more reasonable affordable price, The Phantom Street Artist will be exclusively selling his own shit produced in limited edition canisters through the Derek Baurmann Gallery...
A performance video is being released of the Artist Performing the work in his private loo studios...

The Street Phantom, by Heavyconsumer on May 15, 2008 2:43:55 GMT 1, I hope that The Phantom and Baurmann Gallery enjoy the process thoroughly and that you can find some properly sealable packaging. Make sure you're off the vindaloos the night before as well, although perhaps that would be a selling point!
