Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by arcam on Jul 3, 2008 22:16:36 GMT 1, Isn't it just a fairer way for everyone to purchase a Banksy? What's fairer than everyone pressing F5 at the same time, some win some don't. End of.

Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by moleman on Jul 3, 2008 22:23:27 GMT 1, There is a huge difference in the size of a banksy release what are we saying 2500 approx when faile released a few hundered, i know some people think people did multiply log on for faile thats how they got four or three. But i got 4 on one log on and will be dropping the other three for the next guy to get which maybe one of you fairq haters because you got nothing throwing your toys out of the pram. what it would mean is that the chance of getting 1 is good overall two very unlikley, to stop multiples happening instead of having 30 seconds to get one give out fair q link with 1 hour to log on to it and process application. I think its very fair and happy at the way faile has run there release ( i can hear you all he would say that). But if the guy above says there are no more prints ( is thiss confirmed ) then it dont matter any way

Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by Ruggs on Jul 3, 2008 22:32:34 GMT 1, I like the 1 hour log on process. Nothing better than getting an e-mail back from POW saying you've won a Banksy print with a Pay Now link. Easy to do and fair on the ordinary Banksy punter.

i disagree - F5 only works when you happen to be at your computer the 15 seconds that it takes to sell out

Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by bored with screen names on Jul 3, 2008 22:38:38 GMT 1, I think what might be a good idea is to limit the amount of Qs one can enter. Maybe 3-4 per release. Pick the pieces you want the most and go for them. This would drastically reduce the # of entrants for each print/OG and make the odds better that you win something you really want, and would reduce the amount of redraws necessary as the likelihood that anyone won more than 1 or 2 would be pretty remarkable.

No, it takes 15 seconds for POW and/or Protx to grind to a halt. Then you have to wait a couple of hour refreshing until enough people have tired and the pressure on the servers ease up.

Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by daveh on Jul 3, 2008 23:46:25 GMT 1, I don't really get faile so didn't try fair q so no idea how it works in practice, but the theory seems much more equitable to me than the current bias towards those who can sit over a computer all day waiting for the drop, or have tout tools.
Also, though with the faile prints it was good to be able to calmly decide, looking at each print on its merits, that though some were quite nice, I still didn't really get faile and would leave them to those that did; had the decision been on the clock I might have pulled the trigger on something that in the cold light of day I didn't want.
Point of which I've never really understood which the image of the next print isn't put up in advance rather than at the second of sale only- its not like we'll all be sat here moaning about the poor execution of the feet to the point where they can't shift them.

Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by tundra on Jul 3, 2008 23:56:00 GMT 1, Completely unlikely... But I am a fan of a reverse auction format for his next release... where the price gradually goes down and people can click to lock in at a price. It would effectively kill all flipping.
Interesting idea, but how would a starting price be determined...this could also lead to someone with quite a lot of $$ controlling the market a bit.

Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by Ruggs on Jul 4, 2008 21:26:55 GMT 1, Here's my 'POWFairQ' new Banksy print release suggestion. An hours window when the print becomes available. You're able to browse the normal style POW page, with a 'POWFairQ' button, instead of the current 'ADD TO BASKET'. Then simply fill in your name, address, e-mail and secure password details. A short time later the lucky winners chosen at random are notified by e-mail with a 'PAY NOW' link and time limit counter to complete the purchase. Anyone going over there time limits will unfortunately lose out and the next person(s) in the queue will have there chance to purchase instead!

Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by giiiant on Jul 4, 2008 22:36:08 GMT 1, failq isn't fair because it will just become a battle for who can cheat in the most entries, random release isn't fair because not everyone can sit in front of a PC all day
best way in my opinion is drip feeding. 20 prints an hour or something like that over a few days.

Could POW try the Faile FairQ for the next Banksy?, by dodge on Jul 4, 2008 22:49:29 GMT 1, Here are the results of my recent studies on this subject.
POW style F5'ing = No success. Fiarq lottery = No success.
I had no luck on the recent Faile releases via fairq, nor have I had any luck with any of their recent releases. The days of bagging a Banksy are gone for all but a small majority, I haven't even been near since the good old days. I cannot sit all day/night F5'ing as I have a job/life.
Conclusion:
Save pennies and buy from unscrupulous dealer/flipper.
Strike lucky and get a kind board member to do you a good deal. This works for me. I have been given some great deals by kind folk on here. Likewise, I have passed on some bargains to fellow art enthusiasts for good prices as I would rather they got framed and went to a loving home than make a few quid on ebay.
I have given up on trying to get stuff at cost from POW/Faile/etc etc....
