Baurmann Gallery - June/July pictures and updates , by Baurmann Gallery on Jul 7, 2008 20:55:33 GMT 1, (warning…lots of pics in the thread if you have a slow connection)
My apology on the lack of postings the last few weeks…time has been flying due to how much work has going on. Things continue to go insanely well though and the work has been non-stop work on a lot of BIG things in progress…more details of which I will post, as it gets closer. As always though, I always am trying to snap a lot of pictures at the events to hopefully provide a little insight for who probably cannot make it out to Los Angeles (especially oversees) as frequently or easily. Also, everyone should have received his or her “Think Outside the System” editions by now. If there were any problems or you have not received it yet, please email info@baurmanngallery.com and I will look into it ASAP. The sketch of the next edition is also included below. It will likely not be completed and available until sometime in August, as MEAR is trying to take this one even further. Thank you all for the continued support as always! Hope everyone is doing great!!! The Awakening (next print):
Here are a bunch of pics of some of the recent events: MEAR painted @ 33 1/3 with CHAZ, POSE2, and Chor Boogie. Chaz Boroquez is one of the greatest living legends of Los Angeles graffiti in my opinion. I often get the fortunate opportunity to meet a lot of different graffiti writers and artists, but he is someone whom I was blown away to meet. Chaz and MEAR collaborated on a few of MEAR’s notable masterpieces, namely the “Mumia” and “Moses” canvases. Chaz executed the letters on the tablets in the “Moses” piece and the jail of the “Mumia” canvas. Chaz was one of the most humble and nicest writers I have met. His influence and achievements over the span of his art career continue to impress and fascinate me immensely as I learn more and more about his accomplishments. The Smithsonian even has a piece of his in their collection. In terms of LA graffiti, Chaz is the epitome of the term legend in my opinion and one of the main artists I am EXTREMELY surprised people do not discuss or look into more. 33 1/3 MEAR
Chaz Boroquez
As always happens whenever MEAR is not happy with a design, he painted over his first character and switched directions to something else. The new character was also done extremely quickly and not quite finished due to it being 100+ degrees all day and people having to keep spray cans in coolers so they did not explode….
It’s always amazing to see whom you randomly run into in Los Angeles. Akil of Jurassic 5 came down and was hanging out for a while down with MEAR. Chali 2na was the person who really inspired MEAR with graffiti in middle school, which I always thought was interesting and cool (as I have always liked J5’s music a ton). Akil is also currently doing some solo stuff that I highly recommend checking out…

Baurmann Gallery - June/July pictures and updates , by Baurmann Gallery on Jul 7, 2008 20:56:11 GMT 1, CBS Wall: ANGER (the leader of CBS), OG HEX (who started CBS), and BLACK (one of the new members of CBS) all painted with MEAR in one of the alleys close to the Dali Lama mural off Melrose. This is the piece in progress. They all only got to work on them for a short period of time due to a meeting they were also having too. They all came back the next day and finished them up though, which I will post the pictures of soon. ANGER-CBS

Mike the Poet came down which is always a nice surprise!
I went by and the Dali Lama mural is still looking spectacular in my opinion:

Baurmann Gallery - June/July pictures and updates , by Baurmann Gallery on Jul 7, 2008 20:57:40 GMT 1, I got a chance to hang out with Jason Filipow this weekend too. He is working on a ton of stuff I can’t post yet (but was very impressed by)…but I got a chance to see my commission completed and hanging. It is always great chatting and hanging out with Jason, so I always definitely appreciate going by the studio.
I also picked up my other piece, which I will post soon.

The prices oversees (like $8.66) at least always helps put our prices in perspective, but $5.00 is expensive here (in my opinion)...as gas used to be $2 something (in So Cal)...then slowly rose past $3, then $4, and is now at $5 or close at a lot of places (in So Cal)...I know it has risen in the UK a lot too, but until the last 4 years, the US was not used to such expensive gas and a lot of people were and continue to be affected by the rapidly rising prices (in my opinion).
It would definitely be cheap though if I was paying in British pounds though

Baurmann Gallery - June/July pictures and updates , by satk on Jul 9, 2008 1:01:51 GMT 1, Derek, Great pictures, and good to see things your end.
Sorry I did not email before now, but 'Think Outside the System' received safe and sound in it's Yazoo tube. It's a great print, and a real quality job.
Looking forward to further pictures of 'The Awakening'.
Tell us: Mear's live piece in your pictures...how long from start to finish?
Regards...N

more like $11-$12! & it's only going to get worse
i can't believe in a country the size of america, along with it's unnecessary oversized engines, 60p a litre is the norm!
