The Best Film Ever, by Dr Plip on Jan 10, 2016 22:15:12 GMT 1, If he hasn't seen it already, this is a targeted recommendation for Dr Plip โ a film I believe he'll enjoy: Best of Enemies (2015), directed by Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon. It's the story of a relationship between two master debaters and cunning linguists. There's a copy on YouTube, but don't watch it there because the quality's too poor. Netflix is a more reliable source. ABOUT THE FILM
In the summer of 1968 television news changed forever. Dead last in the ratings, ABC hired two towering public intellectuals to debate each other during the Democratic and Republican national conventions. William F. Buckley Jr. was a leading light of the new conservative movement. A Democrat and cousin to Jackie Onassis, Gore Vidal was a leftist novelist and polemicist. Armed with deep-seated distrust and enmity, Vidal and Buckley believed each otherโs political ideologies were dangerous for America. Like rounds in a heavyweight battle, they pummelled out policy and personal insultโtheir explosive exchanges devolving into vitriolic name-calling. Live and unscripted, they kept viewers riveted. Ratings for ABC News skyrocketed, and a new era in public discourse was born.
This was very entertaining. I enjoyed it a lot. Reminded me of the forum at times.

The Best Film Ever, by Deleted on Jan 12, 2016 19:00:13 GMT 1, Oh my word.........If you have not seen this you must watch it.
I was having palpitations, my hands were sweating and everything!!
An absolutely stunning film, I am sure some artistic licence was used for the main bulk of the story but what Petit did was just extraordinary.

Definitely good but found the original documentary more moving as it was raw and 100% legit.

Funny how this one slipped under a lot of people's radar. Great tale of murder, deceit and paranoia. BBT is great in it. Didn't know it was directed by Sam Raimi.
Might see if I can locate it for another watch.

Bought "Brewsters Millions" for 3GBP from the local supermarket for a chuckle on a rainy day a few years ago, weirdly "A Simple Plan" was inside?? So yeah, don't think anyone really caught this when it came out?

The Best Film Ever, by searchandrescue on Jan 15, 2016 0:31:46 GMT 1, Saw it tonight. Absolutely amazing... And I'm pretty critical with films. think you just sold it to me. Was gonna watch Quentin Tarantino (70mm "Roadhouse!!" etc) at Leicester Square or for the 3rd time (1st time in Leicester Sq) Star Wars TFA, or the Revenant this weekend.

Funny I actually passed on Hateful as I actually had the pleasure of seeing the entire cast perform a live reading here in LA with Tarantino directing them about a year ago. Was great to see and experience that but definitely will wait for that one to be on the tube. Revenant will not disappoint.

The Best Film Ever, by Cardiff on Jan 17, 2016 18:17:14 GMT 1, i watched the big short the other day good movie Saw this a few weeks ago and loved it (kind of a cleaned up and more financially focused Wolf Of Wall Street)! We walked out a bit shaken as the housing market in SoCal today feels pretty similar to 2007 (crazy price increases, bidding wars, remodeling, etc.). I realize loan practices are a bit stricter now, but the last two weeks of market drops have me wondering if we are due for another housing adjustment as well (especially if rates escalate...which seems like a no brainer).

The Best Film Ever, by Hubble Bubble on Jan 17, 2016 18:40:50 GMT 1, Disappointed with THE REVENANT. Lots of suffering and some strong, bloody set pieces. But way too long, especially in a ponderous second quarter plus far too many low angle shots of trees, mystical native Americans and symbolic Leo re-births out of all manner of cocoons.

The Best Film Ever, by Deleted on Jan 21, 2016 23:09:26 GMT 1, Taggers are celebrated in a new documentary film entitled Wall Writers: Graffiti In Its Innocence. Itโs all based on a book of the same name compiled by Roger Gastman, who also serves as the filmโs director. Specifically, it focuses on the writers active between the years of 1967 and 1972. Featuring interviews with such artists as TAKI 183, Cornbread, Kool Klepto Kidd, Phil T Greek, and Greg 69, the film is narrated by the legendary film director and screenwriter John Waters and will be shown at only a handful of screenings, at least for now.

The Best Film Ever, by searchandrescue on Jan 26, 2016 10:37:33 GMT 1, Watched The Hateful Eight last night at leicester square, awesome, can't believe I was gonna swerve this for the revenant. Appreciate a live read through would be cool to see but it blew me away in cinema. I guess that's what it is, a reappraisal of how we experience film, more akin to a silent \ talkies experience at the beginning of cinemas history. Mind blowing, a stage play more than going to the cinema. If you have ANY chance to catch it in 70mm then I beseech you, do so. Much of the criticism of length, subject, violence, etc is totally missing the point, this is about the magic of film theatre and the power of celluloid to paint a picture.
