Shipping Art valued Items Advice, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jan 25, 2011 9:36:42 GMT 1, Hey,
I think this has been mentionned earlier but I'm choosing the laziest path.
Does anyone know any shipping carrier, delivering worlwide, who fully ensures art?
I know that many carriers won't reimburse damages or loss if the content of the parcel is art.
Doesn't matter the price. All I need is something fast & fully insured!
Thanks
Edit : I heard a lot of people recommending Flight Logistics saying it was a really good shipping company. Do they as well fully insured art?

Shipping Art valued Items Advice, by murdock on Jan 25, 2011 11:38:42 GMT 1, I guess this depends on the value you want to insure.
FedEx covers up to $1000 (?), with DHL you can pay an extra โฌ5 for insurance up to โฌ2000 on any shipment.

You can buy one-off insurance on anything you ship. It doesn't work out that cheap in the long run.
Check the small print as I dont think DHL will cover art over a certain price. I'm not convinced that Flight Logistics are fully insured either.
Best way is to insure your whole collection with a subclause that covers it in worldwide transit. That way anything you sell and then send will be covered until it reaches its destination.

Shipping Art valued Items Advice, by stickitup on Jan 25, 2011 16:23:15 GMT 1, most the big name couriers will insure up to a certain value, Fedex, UPS, DHL, it is worth giving them the full description (artist, title, medium, size, date of execution) and commercial invoice (ie a copy of the suggested value to insure rather than a receipt for it showing the actual value), largely as insurance will want to know a price at which to insure, the price you put on it will cover you for the loss/damage it may get but this is balanced against the import VAT at destination so do discuss with the courier what import duties are applicable at the destination.
