sending framed prints, by redfred on Dec 29, 2010 15:23:52 GMT 1, Never had a print framed by MFM but I think he has his own delivery service, have read some horror stories about glass breaking using regular couriers, if I was sending anything of value I would at least take the glass out.

try a jump test (stand on table, min. 1 Metre height and jump on package) if not as required, try thicker board and cardboard.

sending framed prints, by redfred on Dec 29, 2010 15:34:48 GMT 1, Manty failed to mention that to carry out this jump test under laboratory conditions the 'jumper' needs to be at least 16 stone preferably covered in tattoo's and carrying a demented dog attached to his wrist by a bit of rope!

sending framed prints, by MGK1 on Dec 29, 2010 17:55:32 GMT 1, yep, i had a bad experience, i bought a dstq it was framed, the sender wrapped it in 3 inches of bubble wrap with thick card next to it in spme more bubble wrap then in a sturdy box with fragile written all over it. They still managed to break the glass and parcel force would'nt issue compensation
i think you're best bet is to either take the glass out or deliver it yourself otherwise i would stay well clear

sending framed prints, by Brushstrokes 75 on Dec 29, 2010 22:02:19 GMT 1, You have to put kraft paper tape on the glass (not too sticky one not to live marks... Even if the glass breaks it doesn't damage the art!

Even if the glass breaks it doesn't damage the art! I can guarantee that a bit of sticky paper will not protect it from a size 9 boot from some of these moronic delivery guys. Do not try and lull the populus into a false sence of security by using sticky tape, now if you had said Kevlar!!!!

sending framed prints, by Brushstrokes 75 on Dec 30, 2010 0:28:33 GMT 1, I just said that he will protect the artwork not to get damaged by the broken glass. You'll never know what can happen.
Who would think that duck tape only would protect a frame???
Ducktape on the glass + bubble wrapping paper (you have to keep wrapping as long as you can feel the frame) + cardboard + something to block the wholes for the frame not to move in the box...
Even with the safest packagin, the glass can break the way the parcel are handled. Tape on the glass just give you more security..
If we think as you think, just go deliver it yourself and even then you're not sure it would arrive completely safely..
