If they were successful at promoting, exhibiting and selling then why change? Not sure a money making business can be called a rut. Unless....?!

Its the end of Brooklynite as we know it..., by Wearology on Dec 19, 2010 16:41:00 GMT 1, The Brooklynite Gallery is a great venue to buy and look at art. Rae is a wonderful guy to deal with. I always felt that Brooklynite was America's answer to POW. Rae and his family seemed to embrace the neighborhood that the gallery stood. I wish them luck in the future!

Maybe because they are artists themselves and not everything has to be about making as much money as you can ? also just because you are good at one thing, does that mean you should do it for the rest of your life ? ...living safe sounds boring to me
Good luck Brooklynite, im looking forward to seeing whats next

Its the end of Brooklynite as we know it..., by deneilson on Dec 19, 2010 22:04:51 GMT 1, i never really post on these forums more of a lurker really but feel i should say something here with regards to Brooklynite gallery......these guys represent everything that first got me interested in art, a new approach to showing the public what is going on around the globe not just what is pushed our way via various means. Rae has a real passion for his art and every medium that comes with it, i dont think i have ever watched so many interesting clip/films/programmes as those that were shown on the Brooklynite TV and i have ever seen so many interesting exhibitions as those that were shown in the gallery over the last few years, so congratulations to all at the gallery for that. The snub nose prints seem a revelation to a lot of people and a fantastic way of opening the door for people to collect various artists without having to outlay vast sums of money, a new concept on which many galleries could learn from. So thanks Rae & Hope its been a pleasure and good luck with the new direction. Cannot wait to see what you come up with, big love to Brooklyn.

Its the end of Brooklynite as we know it..., by toshspice on Dec 20, 2010 0:54:29 GMT 1, Good move from a great gallery. They've shown some great work by some outstanding artists. However it must be hard to consistently find a dozen decent artists a year, every year to put on shows with. To rationalise and find time to focus on the special ones makes a lot of sense.

quite frankly that must be near impossible to do and stay a float. I have a lot of respect for gallerists like Joshua Liner, Jonathan Levine, Marsea Goldberg who keep at it month after month and produce top notch work.
