Whatever Happened To..., by Guest on Dec 3, 2010 15:21:12 GMT 1, Hardly promising, one of the major talents. As a side note, i feel the lack of artists at this years show is a real disappointment. IE Bast Faile, Jenkins, Choe.

Whatever Happened To..., by Daniel Silk on Dec 3, 2010 15:27:33 GMT 1, In the scene in general, it feels like Artists are using a much bigger variety of galleries than they did a few years ago, and they are increasingly doing their own shows and events with no gallery involvement.
Could it be down to the percentage Galleries take out of the Artists print releases? and Artists thinking they would rather try things on their own? Just guessing!

Whatever Happened To..., by shower on Dec 3, 2010 15:46:14 GMT 1, Does an artist have to sell work in shows for them to still remain at the top of their game? Imo his street work this year is second to none, the Rennes piece above and his Nuart piece in particular stand out. Its not as if hes given up or stopped painting the streets just because he isnt selling prints!

I have two of this prints and I think both work very well. In fact one is probably my favourite print up on my wall!
In a way I hate the way an artist is often measured by the way their work translates between different mediums, prints in particular. I sometimes think its not all about prints and I often get more enjoyment buying a book with hundreds of pics of an artists street work than buying one image that happens to go on the wall.

Whatever Happened To..., by smallbylo on Dec 3, 2010 16:09:51 GMT 1, Blu sells through his own site artsh.it ( and zooo.org ). Seems he only sells to live, not live to sell...
Internet marks a new era for artists, and when you are a worldknown and highly respected street artist shown all over the web like he is... you really need a gallery?
Faile signed for a big one (steps away from just urban art). Different artists, different objectives... Great that internet gives them different ways to live!

Totally agree Ronhill. Good to nurture the newer artists, but would have been nice for some of the POW stalwarts in attendance. And where's Invader, McLauchlan and so many others who regularly take part?

Whatever Happened To..., by Deleted on Dec 3, 2010 16:59:53 GMT 1, Whatever happened to Blu ? strange question considering the amount of wall space he's covered this year..he's had one of the highest profiles in street art for a good few years, and deservedly so. Even better that he's not banging out prints, shows and consumer durables every month.

Whatever Happened To..., by Art-el on Dec 3, 2010 22:41:32 GMT 1, Blu. Nothing in M&S this year and such a promising talent.
Didn't see that one coming
Personal achievement and success shouldn't be confused with commerce and financial gain.
As far as I can see he's only just getting warmed up. His work this year has been nothing short of phenomenal in my opinion.
I know plenty of writers/artists that do design/other jobs sat at home in the morning to cover the cost of living and their paint to go out in the afternoon and do a piece. Yes even this week, on the mean streets of Bristol with hot water bottle on board to keep the cans warm because it was about -3 in the day!!
You have to remember everyone has different priorities in life and most don't do it for any other reason than they have to irrespective of whether they get to appear at Marks & Spencer's!

Beejoir is doing just fine. Don't know of anyone who said he would be the next banksy. Talk of the "next banksy" is inapropriate in any event.

Seems to me that you have taken one quote out of context. No matter whatsoever. If one or two people made such claims, so what. If you dont like Beejoir's work, that is entirely up to you. Lots of people , including me, do. Not sure what else matters.
