What do you regret selling the most?, by hlarmy on Sept 8, 2010 18:04:34 GMT 1, Another random thread for a bit of fun...
Which piece of art do you regret selling the most; I'm sure there's plenty of forum members who have had some crackers in their time, but decided to sell it for one reason or another.
My biggest regret is selling my S&S last year and at a price that I would happily pay for another now...

What do you regret selling the most?, by mmmike on Sept 8, 2010 18:09:27 GMT 1, I have never sold anything so nothing to regret there but I have passed on a couple that I regret. The ones that hurt the most were a Nola (below market) and Donuts at cost. My good friend ended up buying both so it wasn't so bad.

I guess that's another thread in itself. You turned down a Banksy print at cost
EDIT: sorry, don't mean to rub salt in the wounds...

It wasn't my favorite print, if I bought it it would have been to flip so probable best, my buddy is happy about getting it. It actually got him into buying way too many prints now. A cheap Banksy is a powerful gateway drug.

I think there is one on the 'bay at the moment.
Lat time I looked it was at around ยฃ165, but the reserve hadn't been met.
We love ours. It hangs in the lounge.

What do you regret selling the most?, by Michael Jacob on Sept 8, 2010 19:36:58 GMT 1, a couple of months ago, i let a bomb middle england go for around $1000 USD. It had a few issues, but still a great print. On a positive note, it went to someone who would appreciate it, and a good forum member.
ps. if the buyer no longer wants it, please pm me.

I've got a few others in the pipeline but not that particular one; it's an interesting question though Sir Wiz - I remember when I first got into art, I went mental buying prints by stencil artists thinking that they had to be the next Banksy, I then listened to the advice of a lot of people saying 'sod prints, buy originals', so I went mental buying originals from artists whose work I liked. I then went away for a while, didn't think about art, and then came back to the UK and a room full of canvasses, prints and empty boxes that I didn't particularly want any more.
Do I regret buying them? Not at all, although I did for a moment this afternoon when I was into my third straight hour of trying to package large canvasses that would stand up to a royal (mail) kicking!! At least I've almost got the spare room back though, and hopefully a lot of the art I've bought, and recently sold, is now back on the wall, even if it isn't mine

What do you regret selling the most?, by hlarmy on Sept 8, 2010 21:03:02 GMT 1, How about a 'What do you regret not buying?' thread. How long have you got!!!!!!
That's a good one - for some reason though I think I remember that coming up before... I can't remember anything I regret not buying, apart from a NBGs when there were a few at ยฃ1,400. I'm sure there's others - I'm just thankful I wasn't interested in all this back in the day as I've heard plenty of stories of people turning down Banksy canvasses for a grand or so. I guess that's life, you win some, you lose some...
