Map of London print?, by They call me Stephen on Jun 9, 2010 21:05:50 GMT 1, Stephen Walter's 'the island'. Very impressive in real life - large, full of quirkiness and will have everyone trying to spot areas they know.

Map of London print?, by Martin M on Jun 9, 2010 21:19:55 GMT 1, If you can find it take a look at "Birds eye view of London as seen from a Balloon 1884" By William Lionel Wylie & H. W. Brewer A huge print, I have it on my wall and its unbelievable in its detail and brilliance i suppose its not very contemporary but you wont be disappointed at the detail overlooking the city.

Map of London print?, by ozychilds on Jun 15, 2010 9:27:29 GMT 1, Thanks for the ideas. Future Map company look pretty cool - bit different to the standard street map of London.
Like this too - "Birds eye view of London as seen from a Balloon 1884". Not quite so contemporary though
Any other ideas?

Stephen Walter's maps are incredible - unfortunately the Island sold out quite some time ago and goes for about ยฃ10K on the secondary... It was also huge - about 2m wide. There is a slightly smaller version (still pretty massive at 148cm wide) called "The Hub" which I managed to pick up at the London print fair a couple of months ago - edition of 50 - listed at ยฃ2200.
It's an amazing print - the highlight of the fair imo - I'm not sure if they are still available or if they have sold out now. They are/were published by Tag Fine Arts.

Map of London print?, by milkybinbags on Jun 15, 2010 11:05:56 GMT 1, Saw one of The Island at my local framers first time I went in. Must have cost a bomb to frame, but the detail was stunning. Definitely on my 'when I am rich' list of things to buy.
