Greenpeace hit BP where it hurts.., by Pure Evil on May 28, 2010 20:08:53 GMT 1, www.greenpeace.org.uk/files/tarsands/logo-competition.html
I was checking out AP's image * with the BP logo and just found out about the Greenpeace page its well cool.
LONDON— The rabblerousers at Greenpeace know that a company’s logo is sacrosanct — it’s the brand’s visual identity to the world. That’s why they’ve decided to hit BP where it hurts. With a new Web site calling for public submissions, Greenpeace wants graphic-design-savvy activists to reimagine the lively green-and-yellow BP logo in the wake of the catastrophic Gulf of Mexico oil spill. An entire set of the entries thus far is up on Flickr. We’re especially fond of the sad bird , the surfer riding a wave of oil ( * ), and this BP sun rising on a polluted horizon .
Greenpeace’s bone to pick with BP — beyond the obvious “you’re guilty of the worst petroleum-based disaster since the Exxon Valdez spill” — extends to the issue of tar sand drilling, a practice that the organization says will lead to environmental and human-health catastrophes in Canada. And the environmental group isn't limiting their graphic offensive to Flickr: Earlier this week Greenpeace operatives scaled their way onto the balcony of BP’s London headquarters and swapped the company’s official flag with their own oil-smeared version, complete with an update of what the energy giant's acronym stands for: "British Polluters."

Greenpeace hit BP where it hurts.., by Agent Provocateur on May 29, 2010 13:31:00 GMT 1, Good post PE.
There's also a t-shirt competition to help raise funds 'to protect the Gulf region' here www.creativeallies.com. The direct link the 'Damn the oil spill' competition is www.creativeallies.com/jobs/show/73.
This is what they say:
Damn the Oil Spill
ALLIES: Now you can actually DO SOMETHING about the Deepwater Horizon (Gulf Coast) oil spill.
The Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling rig now dumps 210,000 gallons of crude every day into the Gulf of Mexico, harming beaches, wildlife and livelihoods.
In response, we're sponsoring a t-shirt design contest, with all profits going to protecting the Gulf region. The t-shirt text and design are totally up to you. We want a design that catches the imagination of people who want to do something about this disaster, and stop future disasters from happening. Vent your anger and frustration with art that calls people to action and keeps the disaster in the public eye. What you say and how you say it is up to you.
Submit your designs by June 1. We'll select a winning creation, pay the winning Ally $100, then make the winner's t-shirt design available for sale. All profits will go to the Gulf Restoration Network (GRN) (http://www.healthygulf.org), an organization committed to uniting and empowering people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf Region.
One designer can make a donation, but one sucessful design can capture the imagination of the whole world.

I think it's a good idea and any money raised by selling the t-shirts will go to a great cause. Here's my little addition...
Just thought it might be worth mentioning.
