One of my best nights was seeing the Stone Roses play the same bill as The Happy Mondays (who I must admit I have always prefered) in around 86 or 87 (Manchester of course). Pure quality - an album I still listen to regularly - loud.

It was 20 years ago today..., by Replete on Mar 14, 2009 1:44:17 GMT 1, Jaysus h christ that's spooky. I just downloaded that album around 2 hours ago. I got it on vinyl over 15 years ago but haven't listened to it in a while then I watched the film Eagle Vs Shark a few weeks back which has This Is The One as the main soundtrack at the culmination of the film. So it reminded me of how much I love the album then I randomly downloaded it today as I've got a rare early vinyl pressing which has dire and very quiet recording levels.
The universe seems to be resonating currently to the sounds of The Stone Roses.

It was 20 years ago today..., by Replete on Mar 14, 2009 2:00:47 GMT 1, Also weirdly enough my all time favourite and the first album I ever bought is 20 years old this month and still sounds as good as it ever did. It was also responsible for getting me into graffiti as I bought Hip Hop Connection magazine to read a review of their second album De La Soul Is Dead and then I spyed the graffiti section in the mag and my eyes got hooked on the wildstyles contained within.
Ahh the second golden era of hip hop I miss thee
P.S Three is definately the magic number and I incorporate it into my work whenever possible especially 333 (not for threes) which is the title of my second favourite album by Plaid.

AWESOME album
My all time favourite band of all time
Ian Brown gets better and better live I saw him at the Brixton Acedemy last year and I thought he'd really improved his live voice, back in the days of The Leeds Uni gigs in the 80's and early 90's he was truly awful!!
Great great band and a real shame about John Squire and IB not being able to see eye to eye

How long before the 'reunion' gravy train stops off at Renis, Manis, Browners and Mr Squires gaff???

It was 20 years ago today..., by Deleted on Mar 14, 2009 9:52:20 GMT 1, The Stones Roses first album is a classic album, difficult to argue against that. its one i probably haven't listened to enough.
for me the true legend and lyrical Genius of the Madchester music scene is without doubt Shaun Ryder and my favorite album of that period is Bummed by the Happy Mondays.

Other way round mate, IB has beef with Squire. John has publicly said he's up for getting back to end it properly.
I think, providing ALL the original members rejoined, they could be one of the only bands to make a reunion special...
...or of course it could go the other way.

It was 20 years ago today..., by brut on Mar 14, 2009 13:22:13 GMT 1, I can say only one thing about this thread & that is i am now starting to feel a little old. It has been 21 since my first gig (monsters of rock at donnington 1988). Some albums just feel great & timeless. The stone roses album and the De La Soul album are works of art.1989 was a great year for music. That year i also purchased south of heaven by slayer,Bleach by nirvana & Fugazi's Repeater. We are only 2 years away from the 20th anniversary of the release of nevermind!
