Newcastle Advice, by manchestermike on Jun 10, 2009 22:48:24 GMT 1, Off for a stag on Friday (enjoy the Banksy show everyone ) which I'm meant to be organising... and haven't much... although sorted out food for both nights...
Any recommendations for bars, there for 2 nights so was thinking Friday Quayside, Saturday Bigg Market...
Can big groups get in places ok? What is the dress code like there? Anthing else?
Thanks

Newcastle Advice, by Eton Groover on Jun 10, 2009 22:59:13 GMT 1, Quayside is very stag.. depends what the group is after though, and there are some popular bars on Collingwood street and thereabouts (tokyo, Madame Koos, Floritas bar etc)
If you are look like a stag party better stick to the quayside coz some pubs are funny about stuff like that

Not particularly, will be about 15 or so of us, all late 20s / early 30s so want places we can go and have a good drink and a laugh, I've been to the Quayside a fair few times but only in small groups, was more worried they won't let big groups in places...
Also any other ideas as if we go to the quayside Friday people will want to go somewhere else Saturday (after the dogs )

Dresscode is pretty old school - no trainers, no rockports, no ben sherman shirts, no footy tops - seeing as your from manchester you might want to go shopping before hand
Osbourne Road in Jesmond is worth a sniff on either day to get the party started (from about 5pm-7pm I think). It's fairly cheesy but there's loads of drinks promos - push the button at the bar and get free drinks, 241 etc. Full of students but you get lots of stags and hens round there too. The main bar is called Osbournes but there are quite a few others all in the same area and it's only a mile or so from town.
Best piece of advice - if you're going anywhere near the bigg market don't mention the fact that you toasted newcastle's relegation with a bottle of champagne - in fact, don't mention that anywhere and you'll do just fine

Newcastle Advice, by manchestermike on Jun 11, 2009 8:29:43 GMT 1, Thank you both, will prety much avoid the Bigg Market then... May have to go and buy some shoes though! No trainers!!!
Suppose dressing the stag in a Sunderland shirt isn't the best idea ever then

Newcastle Advice, by jon11 on Jun 11, 2009 8:45:49 GMT 1, speak to an expert with connections in top end bars and get some bookings - ideally a table in a club/bar with a few bottles of booze waiting on your table... WTF?
