Best way to post a Banksy, by njr911 on Mar 31, 2009 16:30:14 GMT 1, Have to post a Signed Banksy.
What's the best way of packing and posting ?
Currently stored flat, should I put it carefully back in the POW tube or does anyone have a BRP tube they want to send me
Who are the best to use for posting. Needs to be insured for more than the post off ice will cover doesn't it ?
Cheers Neil

Best way to post a Banksy, by robinbanks on Mar 31, 2009 16:38:32 GMT 1, I definitely wouldn't use a POW tube. They're tighter than a gnat's chuff.
I'd do it like they do at BRP - get a roll of brown paper, make some protective corners by quartering half a sheet of plain white A4, gently slip the corners over the corners of the print and lightly stick em down onto the brown paper with some tape. Roll it up carefully and slip it into as big a tube as you can get your hands on.
The trouble with BRP tubes is they're too big for Royal Mail to handle (think their limit is 90cm long with 14cm diameter) so you'll have to use Parcelforce or a courier company.

Best way to post a Banksy, by Heavyconsumer on Mar 31, 2009 21:52:31 GMT 1, I think RM will insure for more than ยฃ500, at a premium, which I believe still works out cheaper than other firms. I've found their Special Delivery service (arrives next morning within the UK) excellent in the past. Also, I've sent a BRP tube to Austrailia with RM in the past (containing a Banksy, sent to a forum member), so can't see why that would be an issue if you get your hands on the tube. My biggest fear is always the RM employees using the tube as a light-sabre. Sending flat between board (and paper) seems the safest way for the print though and it's probably worth a few quid extra for the buyer's peace of mind.

i think fastlanecouriers are one of the least expensive and very reliable - they are agents for dhl but charge less than going direct - give em a try

Best way to post a Banksy, by bonesy on Apr 1, 2009 10:58:16 GMT 1, I would personally never ship anything the size of a Banksy flat, it would be much safer in a good tube. Here in the US we have Yazoo Mills tubes and they are great. Ask Black Rat where they get their tubes from, Im sure you could order a few directly from the manufacturer in the dimensions you seek. Or PVC tubes (may have a different name on the UK, white platic from Home Depot). Dont know domestic UK shipping but international FedEx wont insure artwork and UPS is very expensive but Ive never had a problem with them internationally (domestically in the US they suck).
