I woke up at 06.30 AM today. The wind was rattling my windows and the rain was lashing down in epic proportions. I trudged my way in the dark to my tube station with my once working, now broken, umbrella only to be forced to wait in a tunnel for 25 minutes due to "signal failures".
It was at this point that I remembered why this was happening - today is "Blue Monday".
According to experts today is the most depressing day of the year, or as the pessimists at the Daily Mail put it: "The most depressing day in HISTORY".
Toay is apparently so depressing it has been predicated that up to a quarter of workers would call in sick.
Cliff Arnall, a former psychology academic at Cardiff University, claims that there are six factors that combine to make today the ultimate of all bad days:
Lousy weather
Post-Christmas debt
Failed New Year's resolutions
Time elapsed since Christmas festivities
Motivation levels
The need for something to look forward to
Basically what this means is that most of us won't have been paid since before Christmas, the credit card bills are looming and the next national holiday is ages away - 82 days to be exact.
According to Dr Arnall, "The credit crunch means today is potentially the most depressing Blue Monday we have had," and with today's news of tax payers funding another bank bailout I'm not going to argue with him.

That is why I am theming it as a summer fete and not using the party word at all. In the evening will be more difficult as I have bands and stuff that will attract quite a few folk but have security so should be fine

Blackberry mate, and usually sync up every couple of weeks but had lost my cable at the start of January. My old phone broke and they sent another before taking the old one before I could get a cable to sync up. Still had all my numbers before December on though, but have managed to sync the wrong way and overwrite them with nothing 
'Think' I still have a backup from about Oct/Nov on my other mac though, will have to set it up and hope I can at least recover some

The most depressing day in HISTORY, by howlinjack on Jan 19, 2009 15:25:20 GMT 1, today is a damn sight better than my saturday. 11am knock on the door from my neighbour asking if i had problems with my drains as he and his neighbour were backing up  spent 4 hours up to my elbows in shite with 30m of drain rods going backwards and forwards trying to unblock my side thinking i was the cause of all of it. couldnt have a shower without fear of flooding my neighbours. called the water board who finally arrived sunday evening and parked the largest tanker lorry i have ever seen outside my house (flashing lights a go go) to tell me the blockage was 300m away in the main sewer and was slowly backing up the whole street before they had cleared it.
so today is relatively good in comparison.
sorry about your numbers mike. i've done that loads. the last time i ended up texting a mate and he replied to tell me my foul mouthed text had arrived on his old number that his 10 year old daughter uses. that was fun.

it was earlier this year, im sure...i was listening to lbc, only the best for me ;D and they said it was earlier because everyone had just broken their newyears resolutions and the bills had caught up....was last monday i think

p.s. feel free to throw this in my face next time we have an earthquake.

I honestly thought this wouldn't go as planned, hence the republican party has pulled some sh*te in the past. Anyway, America will be celebrating over the next few days. The only depression right now is i the economy; here and there.

i fly out to philly monthly, i co own the gallery with a dude in NY and a dude in PHILLY. i book everything via online, cell, etc....we have a gallery manager running things daily...
i WISH marina del rey...its actually the poor man's marina del rey - long beach, hahahahhaha
