A thread of appreciation, by origo on Jan 18, 2009 14:53:02 GMT 1, Unfortunately me and my gf experienced a setback not so long ago, we had a break in and a lot of stuff was stolen or ruined incl. stereo, tv, computers and a bunch of other stuff which we are really sad to have lost. All my paperwork were on my mac (I study law) which really, really sucks.
Luckily the guys who did it didnยดt go for my pieces, they did cause some damage to a couple of them and it left me absolutely devestated.
I have been in contact with a couple of galleries I had made deals with, and I just wanna send a big thank you to some really good people. I am absolutely amazed with their understanding on the matter and cannot thank them enough for giving me time to raise funds for the purchases.
So, a big thanks goes out to Mike at Art-El and Andrew at Thinkspace gallery, and just people I have spoken to in general, it is a big help in a somewhat difficult time.
I have also been in touch with the artists of the damaged pieces, and they have all been very helpful and will do their best to work out the damages.
Strange thing to experience something like this, you always say that it will never happen to you and then you get home and see everything is a mess. One thing is the cleaning up and the cost for these damages, another thing is knowing that people have been through your personal stuff.
Well, just wanna show some appreciation to this community, means alot.

A thread of appreciation, by hero on Jan 18, 2009 15:00:56 GMT 1, mate, im really sorry to hear about it...its completely devastating, and you always feel like a fool when it happens, i was very luck when i was burgled, they caught the bloke within 24 hours...but it does not change the fact that somebody was in your house, touching your things

Glad they found the guy who did it, but it is definetely a very transcendent experience.

A thread of appreciation, by Art-el on Jan 18, 2009 19:32:24 GMT 1, You are very kind indeed
I did nothing more than treat you how I would of liked to be dealt with in your current predicament.
It doesn't take much effort and people should think about this more often.
Thanks to Curious George who also spoke nicely of me and those that pm'd (after my telling off & lesson in manners & business coaching on a different thread). Kids eh?
Origo, good luck in getting back to some normality & I'm glad they caught the bastards.

A thread of appreciation, by Sliding on the Walls on Jan 19, 2009 0:22:13 GMT 1, Sorry to hear about your break-in. I can relate, as it happened to me and my gf last Xmas when we were away visiting family.
We get a 'Next' catalogue delivered, and if nobody's in, whoever delivers it leaves it on the doorstep which can be seen from the street by whoever walks past. I still believe that this probably gave the burglar the all clear that nobody was in our home - as it would have most likely been sitting on the doorstep for a few days.
When we got burgled they had a good rummage around everywhere, took consoles, money, ipods etc... but left all my DJ equipment and my art luckily. I had a harrowing feeling that they'd have ransacked the place entirely, tipping pictures off the walls etc but luckily that didn't happen.
Glad to hear some good hearted people helped you get a nice result from such a troublesome experience.

A thread of appreciation, by Martin DK on Jan 19, 2009 11:37:42 GMT 1, Sorry to hear about this origo - im glad your getting help with the artwork. I have never experienced something like this thank god, but I always fear it. Just the thought about someone else going though your stuff, and also losing stuff that means a lot to you that cannot be replaced.
