Lost Legends Hall of Fame, by crazyarsemother on Jan 10, 2009 13:06:55 GMT 1, Another thread made me think of a few artists that I think rock but were maybe a little over looked. So I have started the Lost Legends Hall of fame pre 1990 thread. It will be interesting to see what collection of artists we end up with. And the referenes to current work.
My entry is Larry Rivers, POP ARTIST. I can see references to a lot of Urban Artists in work. He maybe more well known in the States.
Daniel Webster on a Flesh Field II, 1979

Lost Legends Hall of Fame, by loucastel on Jan 10, 2009 17:51:59 GMT 1, An artist who's work I admire and consider to be underated in some quarters is Auguste Herbin, sadly died in 1960, dug this picture out of storage to give an idea of his work,

Lost Legends Hall of Fame, by skelly on Jan 10, 2009 22:05:51 GMT 1, Funny, I was looking at that Larry Rivers just the other day... maybe Jenny Saville...pretty popular but the pieces really struck me in person.
As far as Larry Rivers goes if you are interested in him check out his Dutch Master's paintings

Lost Legends Hall of Fame, by crazyarsemother on Jan 10, 2009 23:06:10 GMT 1, Loucastel that is pretty impressive - not only do you come in with a good entry for the Lost Legend Hall of Fame Pre 1990 - AKA the LLHOFP1990, but you bring it up from the depths of your castle dungeons. I guess there is links there to Terry Frost that has been talked about on here today. Good Stuff.
I have another great one - celebrated in France - introducing Arman. The world's greatest collector
Bluebeard's Wife - shaving brushes in resin.
I think he has such a good aesthetic touch with what he collects and how he presents them. Would be great now in a street context. I think he filed the gap left by a bombed terrace house once with hundreds of wooden chairs. Can't find an image though.
