"Street Art London" print raffle - Gemma Compton, by Martin DK on Jan 4, 2009 18:26:18 GMT 1, Great cause, and a cause I myself can relate too.
Last couple of years in and out of hospitals, I have met many people suffering from spinal injurys/deceases. I was in 2007 hospitalized in a rehabilitation-facility that only had people with spinal injurys, most of these people where there not to rehabilitation to get well, but just to get used to the new life they now face, and how to manage everyday life. Their lives have turned upside down from one second to another by doing just everyday stuff.
I met a woman, who fell in her dress on the way up the stairs to her front door, she will never walk again. An 20 year old who fell down from a tractor while working, he will never walk again. While I was there a young boy actually died, he was in his wheelchair learning to use it, and it tipped over, and he hit his head down on the pavement.
Spinal cord injurys/deceases dont just chance the life of the ones injured, but also the families that may have to move to a more suited home, people lose their jobs, they may never have children and so on.
Im not saying that these injurys or deceases are worse than any other deceases or injurys out there, just wanted to give my thought about it.
Dig deep people if you can.
