PROFESSIONAL HELP NEEDED FOR CANVAS WRINKLE, by maadbeats on Jan 8, 2009 16:29:28 GMT 1, So I found this guy in China that hand paints dogs in peoples outfits. For some reason I have always been a fan of these. Found them hilarious. So, I have a dog and asked if he could paint my dogs face on a generals uniform. He did it and I am super happy with the results. Although when he sent the unstretched canvas he wrapped in rubber bands. This caused some tension marks where the bands laid.
My question is, can I steam these out from the back?? Or can I lay a towel on a glass table, lay the canvas face down then throw a towel on the back of the canvas and iron it out?? Or is there some other way to go about this that I have no clue about??
Here he is, General Apollo

PROFESSIONAL HELP NEEDED FOR CANVAS WRINKLE, by Replete on Jan 8, 2009 18:20:00 GMT 1, Ive used the iron trick with a tea towel to get rid of creases like these, just be very careful and keep the heat on a low cotton setting, no steam and do it gradually.

PROFESSIONAL HELP NEEDED FOR CANVAS WRINKLE, by neale on Jan 9, 2009 18:16:58 GMT 1, I would put it on a stretcher first, and then stretch by hitting in the corner wedges, any framing shop would be able to do this for you. If there are still creases showing, try spraying the back of the canvas with water using a mist sprayer. the canvas will tighten as it drys

PROFESSIONAL HELP NEEDED FOR CANVAS WRINKLE, by Neverwork on Jan 10, 2009 12:32:09 GMT 1, i've got a few creases/dints etc out of canvas's in the past, the canvas need to be attached to its stretcher first, then wet the back of the canvas in the area you want to flatten, put face down on a flat surface then apply weight, stack of books etc... leave for 3-4 hours approx or until dry, the canvas should then be flat. i had to use this method to get a dint out of a canvas, just a couple of hours before the show was due to begin! thankfully it worked perfectly.
