Upper playground-Bluewater, by I like pictures on Dec 12, 2008 11:04:04 GMT 1, As the title suggests an Upper playground store has opened in Bluewater for those that are interested. Got a nice Choe and Eine t-shirt from there last week. Spoke to the girl running the place and she was hoping to get some artist down there at some point in the future creating art in the shop. How do you think this would effect the urban art scene once all the chavs discover what it's all about?
Sorry if this is in wrong place or has been mentioned before.

Upper playground-Bluewater, by grantb on Dec 12, 2008 13:25:25 GMT 1, before i came to uni i used to go bluewater everyweekend and think its quite cool to have a shop like that somewhere that i go often. but then i think its not good at all...its driving the scene to become more commercial. youll get shit shit loads of people going there and just discovering about urban art. as with chavs i dont think it will turn into a phase (I HOPE NOT) because its quite expensive really.

Upper playground-Bluewater, by I like pictures on Dec 12, 2008 13:33:40 GMT 1, Having spoken to the girl in the shop she was saying that most people were walkingi n there and saying what is this shit? Also they didn't seems to know much about the art scene which surprised me, i would have thought even a little trainning on what they were selling would have occured. I gave them pow and brp web addresses to have a look at to see what they are selling is about.

Upper playground-Bluewater, by chablis on Dec 18, 2008 18:47:42 GMT 1, Stuck my head in there today.
Some nice stuff in there, though mostly American artists that I do not recognise. I rather liked David Choe's and Eine's stuff. As has been mentioned I think they still need to come up to speed on the 'scene'. I metioned the light side / dark side sites to a lad there who seemed genuinely interested.
T-Shirts seemed mostly ยฃ25.
I see on www.upperplayground.com/ that
"..Next Tuesday, December 23rd at Giant Robot in Los Angeles, the always amazing David Choe is going to be signing editions of his latest masterpiece: Choegal. Limited to only 1000 produced, Choegal is his first wood figure..."
not that they have any of those at bluewater, consider it 'upper Playground' - lite
Still worth a visit if you are otherwise being dragged around the shops.
