My first signed Banksy (problem: advice needed)., by sogr8ful on Dec 17, 2008 0:26:53 GMT 1, Hi,
I just purchased my first signed Banksy (Color Trolleys) and have noticed a bit of a problem with the print and wanted some advice from the forum.
About 3/5th's of the way up on the left-hand side there appears to be a printing error. There is a dark blue mark about 2 cm long. In addition, under/around the mark the blue area of the sky is significantly lighter than the rest of the blue in the print. The lighter area is approximately 2 cm x 11 cm.
1) Should I just settle? Am I being too picky? 2) Is/was this a common problem with Trolleys that I was unaware of?
Unfortunately since noticing the imperfection (which was almost immediately) it seems to be all I see. Just wondering how the forum thinks I should handle this. How would you handle this?
I've already emailed the seller (who I met through EB but also posts here) and all my communication with him leads me to believe he is very honest and find a way to work this out. He had stated before I bought the print that it was in Mint condition and I specifically asked if there were any imperfections I should know about.
Any opinions? Thoughts?

My first signed Banksy (problem: advice needed)., by Happy Shopper on Dec 17, 2008 0:41:02 GMT 1, If you examine a lot of prints you'll find issues. Sounds like an imperfection, but was probably part of the print and probably not caused later.

My first signed Banksy (problem: advice needed)., by Karl Read on Dec 17, 2008 0:41:44 GMT 1, IMO as long it is a mistake done in thr printing process it's more unique and i dont mind it as long as its subtle, if it is from someone else's lack of care id ask for a refund. It's personal preference but in this case id keep it.

My first signed Banksy (problem: advice needed)., by sogr8ful on Dec 17, 2008 0:42:56 GMT 1, Hero - Oddly enough its not the darker mark that bothers me (I agree it seems to give it character) but it is the larger lighter area (in an irregular pattern) that really stands out. I will try to post pictures but I'm not how the detail will be.
Just frame it for Gods sake!
That was my first thought too but as I said before, now its all I can see.

he probably saw one edge of the print as this is how most prints are signed and even if he did see the wqhole print I doubt he even looked at it let alone inspected it
I dont mind printing errors like others have said its part of the process and gives it a bit of character

My first signed Banksy (problem: advice needed)., by Studiocromie on Dec 17, 2008 1:49:18 GMT 1, everything i print and sell has imperfections, the contradiction is: if i'd ever buy a print, i would like it to be perfect!
it's personal, there are some kind of mistakes that looks cooler though. sogr8ful, show us a picture!

I just colored in the thumb with crayon on my print. I'm sure Banksy wouldn't mind.

My first signed Banksy (problem: advice needed)., by pezlow on Dec 17, 2008 8:25:46 GMT 1, It was Faile strange encounters that was overprinted on the morons.
As for the question it is hard to say without seeing the imperfections but if it really bothers you have a word with POW, they may (if you are nice about it) provide you with a replacement.

My first signed Banksy (problem: advice needed)., by pezlow on Dec 17, 2008 8:29:06 GMT 1, Also it is not a common problem with the colour trolleys as far as I know. It certainly isn't a problem with my copy.

My first signed Banksy (problem: advice needed)., by howlinjack on Dec 17, 2008 10:48:21 GMT 1, hand pulled screen prints always have some minor imperfection its the nature of the beast. nearly every one of mine has something: personally i think it adds character. if you want near perfect then go giclee. (which is a whole new argument!)
