anyone feel like this today at pow?, by Daniel Silk on Dec 7, 2008 4:12:46 GMT 1, We have only just got back home its now 3.00am!
Got up at 6 this morning, left home at 7.15, got parked in London at 10.00
Saw the line was growing already so felt we would leave it for a bit and pop back later Went round shows at Stela Dore, Stolenspace, Brick Lane Gallery, Sickboy Show, Black Rat Press ;D
Heard from an artist that had waited for something like three hours at POW that it was not worth the wait and seeing the the line was now right round the block we headed off to Carnaby Street for the Amilas show ;D Really Impressed with that! (will post pics later)
Traffic on the way back was unbelievable and then they had shut the bloody slip road from the M4 to M25 south so it was 4 hours plus on the way back ;D
Gotta get to bed now I might not reappear for a few days

anyone feel like this today at pow?, by alsbabar on Dec 7, 2008 5:38:01 GMT 1, why raiden, how many people off this forum would have gone out to Bethlehem? In todays climate, far less than last year. I dont know why some are being negative about the day, it appeared to me that most of people that attended, did so to enter the raffle and that is where most of the money was spent, which all was going to charity. POW or any of the vendors there werent doing any hard selling, so people didnt have to spend any money if they didnt want to.
Also how long do you think people would have had to queue if there was a SG in Oxford Street? How many fights would have broken out, how many upset people would there have been for not getting the print they wanted?
Sure perhaps the queuing could have been shorter for some - but that is/was expected given the number of people that attended. Also perhaps peoples expectations were too high or werent simply met - who's fault is that?

cockerneys don't use knives. we tend to use our bare hands.

Your not missing anything, i found being stabbed a little over rated and quite painful.

anyone feel like this today at pow?, by craigf on Dec 8, 2008 9:55:15 GMT 1, I think there are some other things to see aswell as buying 'art' - eddiedangerous posted this pic
I don't think this picture can be posted enough. Although it wasn't a patch on prior years the reason for the event was to raise money for charity. POW consistently donates large sums to charities like sight savers who make a real difference to people much less fortunate than ourselves. With the economy as it is if they had done another Bethlehem they would have been slated for not considering peoples financial position and another UK ghetto with a Banksy release on the day just isn't viable any more

Next time I hope they do the raffle thing online, limiting to one entry per person. Not only would you get some kind of number but it would give everyone the chance to buy a ticket.
