BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by yapsey on Nov 21, 2008 16:01:29 GMT 1, forgive my ignorance - but is this script you speak of some sort of computer wizzard device that hacks the site and grabs you a print??
all the same, i have thought that a raffle was a best is idea since grannies (i would say that as i have missed every single release since grannies, despite being online at the right time........ i'm not bitter or anything.........
all the same - maybe we should start a petition or something and send it to pow??...... anything is worth a try....

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by rosstierney on Nov 21, 2008 16:02:35 GMT 1, i can't believe fairq is even being suggested
do you realise how low your chances would be?!?
quadruple the amount of individuals that try to score one on pow
they would be using numerous relatives details & creating bogus e-mail accounts
illogical thinking while on a come down from missing out me thinks
there was only one reason for that & it was the edition size
there will be more so treat this as a learning curve

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by daz205 on Nov 21, 2008 16:12:00 GMT 1, i believe in what bongos saying but i dont believe it will ever be a fair chance for all to get a print no matter what pow try, however if bongo was to give the script to all then i guess pow would have to act as the hammering their website would take would force them to act

I hear you Ross but you've got more chance in Fairq then you have against a script. If 300 people used a script on the Nola release then even the fastest lurker would have been left eating dust.
IMO over time more and more people will get hold of scripts and then we're truely fu**ed in terms of getting from source.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by Gentle Mental on Nov 21, 2008 16:25:23 GMT 1, yes, BONGO, now THIS IS CHANGE WE NEED!!!
I HAVEN'T SLEPT for 24 hours and I got NOTHING. And I suspect thousands of true fans didn't either. Just because we didn't have the technical skills. I'm sure those who do are sni**ering right now at my rant - I feel so bullied, seemed like many "winners" took steroids to win this race... and with some winning an impossible 5 gold medals for the same race!
THAT IS JUST NOT FAIR! It should never be about code skills. If such skills do exists how many are actually using it to score this print? 50% of the total sold, 90% who knows? Most of us would too, if we know how...(and I'm sure a lot of us will go around asking tomorrow...) And if we don't get POW to fix this, the next round, there WILL be a lot more with more advanced codes lurking...
IF there's no Fair Q, then i say to whoever has the code PUT IT UP, LET EVERYONE HAVE IT. LET EVERYONE DO IT. LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD. IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 21, 2008 16:30:56 GMT 1, If you want to have work available to the masses, have a vastly larger number of prints. The problem isn't the delivery system, its the edition size.
EXACTLY what he says.
If there's a problem, it's that Banksy has chosen to restrict supply further, while his popularity and demand for his work, has grown exponentially. I missed out yesterday, but I'm not bitter about it. Fact is, whatever system is used if you have tens of thousands of people in for 250 (or however many they actually made available) prints, the odds are always gonna be stacked against you getting one. People will moan regardless of how they are sold.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by eddiedangerous on Nov 21, 2008 16:34:38 GMT 1, BONGO WENT TO HOLY LAND FOR LAST PRINT BONGO SEEMS TO RECALL GRANNIES WAS LAST OPPORTUNITY BONGO NOW KNOW 3 PEOPLE WHO USE NOW SMALL SCRIPTS AS RETURNS ARE SO HIGH FOR BANKSY IMAGES - ALL WERE ABLE TO GLEEFULLY INFORM BONGO OF THEIR SUCCESS YESTERDAY BONGO NOW APPEAL AS BONGO HAS NEVER KNOWN THIS LEVEL OF MANIPULATION
AM GLAD BONGO WENT TO HOLY LAND FOR LAST PRINT. EDDIEDANGEROUS DID TOO. SANTA HAD NONE LEFT FOR HIM. HE HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEEN A BAD BOY THAT YEAR. EDDIEDANGEROUS LEARNT A LOT THROUGH THIS EXPERIENCE. AND STILL EDDIEDANGEROUS THINKS THIS IS THE FAIREST MEANS OF FANS GETTING THEIR HAND ON LIMITED EDITION BANKSY PRINTS.
AT THE END OF THE DAY LUCK PLAYS A BIG PART IN IT. EDDIEDANGEROUS SUGGESTS BONGO SHOULD GET SCRIPT TO AVOID FURTHER DISAPPOINTMENT AND...
BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by rosstierney on Nov 21, 2008 16:35:55 GMT 1, all this script talk is just providing ammunition to the people who knock pow
there are 8,000+ registered members on this forum & only god knows how many guests
anybody wondering why an edition of 289 sells out in the blink of an eye is wasting their time
i know for a fact a script can be knocked up to automatically basket a print but it doesn't come cheap & hardly worth it unless you've got a set up to buy numerous prints, again costing thousands
i estimate 10%-15% were bought by these people & the rest went to the f5ers inc. myself
you've just got to move on

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by goaty on Nov 21, 2008 16:36:14 GMT 1, IMO they should do a release in which there is a one hour window for people to buy a print. The edition is decided by how many people buy the print. It should be for an unsigned edition, but we all know unsigned isn't going to happen anymore.

Announce it hours before - fair enough - I'd rather know than not
Why do you think their phone is off the hook?

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by uksnowman on Nov 21, 2008 16:46:57 GMT 1, Agree with HC and sfdoddsy, you just can't please everyone. Demand just keeps oustripping supply for Banksy prints. Imagine how few forum members will get one with a FairQ system!
At least there have been quite a few people on here reporting success yesterday and this morning with good old fashioned f5. Claw finger is only temporary... Scripting could get your IP banned.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by ashby on Nov 21, 2008 16:47:56 GMT 1, How would a lottery work? If I wanted a print to flip, then wouldnโt I just make multiple entries to the lottery. POW havenโt got the time to check everyone out. If need be I can get 10 of my friends to let me use their CC and house details and I would enter them all, so I would have 10 times more chance that someone else. This seems no better than people running scripts.
I am not trying to be negative, just trying to look at what the flippers are likely to do. I assume POW have already thought of this and decided to stick to the existing broken model.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by alsbabar on Nov 21, 2008 16:49:43 GMT 1, totally disagree - what is a script? an auto updater that tells you when a site has changed, go to google and type in google autoupdater and you will get what majority of people use - if you are speaking of a bespoke programme, then I have never seen one nor has anyone I have spoken to - without actually hacking in to POW's system, can you see this information - and I would guess that POW's firewall etc will alert them to such attacks!!!
Also I disagree on the basis that the majority who managed to get a print did so by hitting F5 or landing on the page at the right time - so to me this reeks a bit of sour egg - just because you have collected Banksy prints for sometime, doesnt give you or anyone the moral high ground or privilege of first dibs - you are in there like the rest of us, you choose not to use any "software", so dont complain because others did.
POW gave adequate notice to all that a print was going to be released so everyone was on the same playing field, POW have done as much as they can to accommodate everyone, they even released more this morning and those who were lucky to get one, did so with sheer persistence, so again level playing field. Fact of life not everyone will get one - move on and hope you get lucky next time around.
How many Banksy Rats did you acquire Bongo, that you still claim find under your bed? Isnt that unfair, to have so many that will never see your walls, why dont you make them available to people on the forum, using your "raffle" suggestion, were others can buy them at cost?

I'm not knocking POW, I'm trying to put the people with scripts out of business!!!
The first 10 prints go to Mr B's friends and family (fair enough) the next wave gets taken by people with scripts and their friends and family (not fair at all) which then leaves us scrapping over what's left.
Well done on bagging a Nola by playing by the rules but I can almost promise you the next time your potential print will be snapped up by someone using a script. Will you still say fair enough???

How can they do it fairer? They gave more than enough notice.
If you desperately need to talk to them email them. They will get back. Why are you phoning? Is it something important or to whinge about not getting a print? When I've contacted them about pretty much anything they've been back very quickly, if it's not been that important within a couple of days. Their customer relationship management has always been good I feel. If I was contacting them to whinge needlessly I'd expect short shrift
Finally, if you're fed up with them, exercise your right as a customer and don't shop with them

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by thetongue on Nov 21, 2008 17:00:29 GMT 1, I see your point Bongo but I feel the only really fair way is to do a la Flags - announce a date and let people queue up. If you don't get one you didn't there early enough, simple.
And if you don't live near where it is, then you don't want it enough.
Job done.
