Paypal - Better Seller Protection on Ebay, by alsbabar on Oct 30, 2008 15:02:53 GMT 1, Paypal have changed their selling policies, which should make it much easier and comfortable selling more expensive items via ebay.
We've (paypal) made some big improvements to our Seller Protection policy and wanted to share the good news. It's now easier than ever to be covered against claims and chargebacks - and make sure every payment you receive is yours for good. What's improved? No more confirmed addresses for eBay transactions - Now you can post items you sell on eBay to any buyer address. The Seller Protection policy will cover you. No coverage limit - You're protected for every eligible claim, so you can sell as much as you like and you'll be fully covered Seller Protection covers 190 countries - Go ahead, sell worldwide. You're covered across the globe These improvements apply to all eBay sellers, not just PowerSellers. There's nothing you'll need to do in order to become eligible. And best of all, they're available at no additional cost. Enjoy safer selling on eBay with PayPal Seller Protection.

Paypal - Better Seller Protection on Ebay, by rcab11 on Oct 30, 2008 21:11:36 GMT 1, Glad to hear they have lifted the confirmed address policy. Passed on quite a few things because of not being confirmed. Thanks for that, Alsbabar!

Paypal - Better Seller Protection on Ebay, by raiden on Oct 31, 2008 4:14:12 GMT 1, On the flip side, Ebay has been cracking down a lot on prints lately. 4 auctions I was bidding on were pulled, though several of them were probably Fakesy's... though they did the same for some Paul Insect pieces I was bidding on that seemed legit.

Paypal - Better Seller Protection on Ebay, by klyde on Oct 31, 2008 8:08:55 GMT 1, Paypal held on to my funds for 2 weeks for no reason whatsoever. Took 5 phone calls, each with the promise that "I will personally see to it your funds will be made available for transfer within 2 hours". I hate paypal!

Paypal - Better Seller Protection on Ebay, by alsbabar on Nov 2, 2008 14:10:25 GMT 1, I heard that the new programme is already causing major issues with sellers - it would appear that if you received a payment via paypal, your money is placed on hold till you have received positive feedback, or the money is released after 21 days - so in essence you are reliant on the buyer giving you positive feedback before you get paid. If they dont, then you have to wait out the 21 days, and further 5 days for the money to be transferred in to your account. So that is nearly an entire month at max, before you got paid. This rule has been brought in by eBay. I see the death of Paypal after this move.

Paypal - Better Seller Protection on Ebay, by jB on Nov 4, 2008 1:47:30 GMT 1, It is very one sided -- I sold the Gangsta Rat via ebay and shipped it off today, but have the funds sitting in my paypal account with a hold on it, which by the way they've already taken their amount out of the final amount -- eBay also wants you to enter in tracking details of the shipped item, unfortunately the only carriers you can enter details on are USPS and UPS, so when something is shipped via FED EX you are at the mercy of the buyer and them leaving you positive feedback -- what a pain!!!

Paypal - Better Seller Protection on Ebay, by alsbabar on Nov 4, 2008 2:09:49 GMT 1, i heard that also has happened to quite a few others - apparantly to overcome such restrictions you need to have 50 feedbacks as a seller - but if you dont sell that often its a right pain in the butt. I understand also that you have to await positive feedback before accessing your paypal monies or wait 21 days, if the buyer doesnt lodge a complaint.

Paypal - Better Seller Protection on Ebay, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 4, 2008 2:31:58 GMT 1, Only one thing is better protected by all this bollocks and it's the same entity as benefits from EVERY ammendment to any rules - Paypal/Ebay. F*cking monopoly bull5hit, flying in the face of any common sense rules applied to any other business model, but everyone continues to support them. I haven't used Paypal for over a year, because quite frankly, any company who treats their clients so poorly is not deserving of revenues from me. How thesecvnts get away with not allowing google checkout and other online payment processors to be offered on Ebay is totally beyond me.
