Britain 1:0 God, by dmandpenfold on Oct 22, 2008 10:49:40 GMT 1, why dont they run a campaign of different slogans including
'there is no Allah / Vishna / Yahweh etc or better still "fill in your god here", now stop worrying and enjoy your life'
or are they just using the english concept of the word (which many on the street will likely assume is the christian god) to describe all gods

Good point... I'd imagine there would be a huge outcry from the respective communities of racism if one 'god' was singled out. Stick with the English concept to mean all 'gods'

Britain 1:0 God, by dmandpenfold on Oct 22, 2008 11:09:58 GMT 1, yes mm i would hope that is how most would view it. I was thinking about Sony pulling a game the other day so as not to offend one group when last year a game used Manchester Cathedral as a battle ground which clearly offended another group but did nothing about it. Imagine replacing Manchester Cathedral in that game with perhaps the Machester Central Mosque or the Holy Law Synagogue, would the outcome have been different?
My comment about using the word 'God' in the campaign will be that it is most often associated with one of the groups not the others in this country and most western countries at least

Britain 1:0 God, by retardthebear on Oct 22, 2008 11:41:47 GMT 1, Would be funny to see. But my non-believeing wil remain free. No onation here.
I think if people hear the word God then they think of whichever God their community or upbringing has taught them to be "god". Some may see the word god and think of the christian god. But a Muslim will think of Allah (Allah just being arabic for god) and Hindus will think of Vishnu etc. After all why would they see such a generic term 'god' and think of someone elses.

You couldn't possibly do that because of the backlash you'd get from all the faiths with an extremist element. Whats the worst that Christians would do if they disagreed with it? probably just tut and look the other way. Unfortunately this wouldn't be the case with certain faiths.....

Britain 1:0 God, by BONGO on Oct 23, 2008 11:17:17 GMT 1, BONGO THINK THAT GOOD PEOPLE A RE GOOD PEOPLE, WHATEVER THEIR BELEIF
SACRED TEXTS WRITTEN BY MEN FOR MEN BONGO THINK
MOST RELIGIOUS TEXTS DO IN ESSENCE FORM A LIST OF RULES THAT BIND A SOCIETY OR CULTURE TOGETHER.
IT IS EASIER TO FORM A TRADING OR DEFENCE BLOK WHEN A PARABALISED SET OF LAWS EXIST, EVEN IF THEY ARE WORD OF MOUTH
