Good night all!, by Glitter G on Oct 16, 2008 23:28:24 GMT 1, I've seen those images before. Nide story from flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/beija-flor/214593427/ "My son, Marcus, admired Banksy's art long before the artist started roaming into London, Paris and New York's most famous Museums and Art Galleries, disguised as an English pensioner, and where he secretly hung his now famous artworks (or infamous, whichever you prefer...) amidst the cream of Art history, admired by all the visitors until museum guards became aware of his hoax and panicked into action.
Already fascinated by his early works, Marcus invited Banksy to Norway - for the price of a free flight over, where thrillingly, the artist left behind his trademark, including a few large, hand-painted "billboards" which now pride the livingroom of my son's home in Bergen, where these portraits were taken.
Over the past few years, Banksy has emerged as an ingenious and dexterous culture jammer, adept at hacking the art world and rewriting its rules to suit his own purposes. He designed the cover of the Blur album "Think Tank", has decorated Israel's controversial West Bank barrier with satirical images of life on the other side and even refused a campaign for Nike.
There is a secretive aura surrounding this fascinating street artist and I'm quite happy to have him (if not only in the background) as a supporting element in my mother's portrait.
Happy Father's Day Mum! To you too, Banksy!"
