Buying Street Pieces????, by Fake on Aug 19, 2008 14:15:09 GMT 1, Buying street pieces?
What is the general opinion on buying and selling original street pieces?
I’ve seen a very nice and big Faile street piece for sale and it looks really cool! The size is: 130x100cm on wood (a bit in a bad shape) the wood started rotting and stuff was growing on it. and its definitely 100% an original…..(ive seen it on pictures)
this piece was made on a construction site and they where done building, so the seller tells me.
What do you think?

Buying Street Pieces????, by curiousgeorge on Aug 19, 2008 17:39:40 GMT 1, On the other side of the coin, to be an artist and be rated enough for people to remove work from the street must mean you are doing something right?*
*I know most people who remove stuff then go on to sell it, point being someone is prepared to pay cash money for it, so again artist is doing something right.
I think it's all part of the game as is being buffed, however sometimes i can understand people getting upset over it.

Buying Street Pieces????, by Martin Whatson on Aug 19, 2008 22:58:18 GMT 1, Its a big difference with picking up a streetpiece to put it on your wall to enjoy it and to pick up/steal a street piece to sell it to make money of it!
I would personally not buy a streetpiece, maybe expect from a Neate that is meant to get picked up
That said, I wouldnt walk by a piece laying in a trashcan or on the street when I liked it, just wouldnt take it down to sell it!!

Buying Street Pieces????, by artpartment on Aug 20, 2008 10:31:32 GMT 1, i spoke with mark jenkins and i ask him what he think about when people are taking his skulptures at home wich he put on the street.he told me that at the moment he puts them out he doesnt care anymore about whats happen with them .i think its the only way for an streetartist to deal with it. i would personaly surely buy street art piece when they are 100% genuine.but i also have to say that i dont like people wich remove art from the street just to make money out of it.
