?'s about POW authentication, by sugarcane on Jul 30, 2008 0:28:34 GMT 1, Does anyone have an idea about the turnaround time for POW to authenticate a print? I am primarily asking because I live in the US and have made several offers on some prints on the forum for their asking prices contingent upon the seller obtaining the authentication. I included that I would pay the 50 gbp fee.
The sellers response was that this would take too long. Can anyone validate this or give me some more insight into this?
I am also likely going to have several of my banksys authenticated and would appreciate some general info about the providing of pics, etc. Also, can you send them in to authenticate?
All help is appreciated.

?'s about POW authentication, by dmandpenfold on Jul 30, 2008 9:39:38 GMT 1, if a seller isnt happy about giving you authentication especially considering the cost of some of the pieces originally from POW i would be a bit concerned, what's the problem after all, you offered to pay the 50 squid, does it really take that long to get a COA?

?'s about POW authentication, by DYL4N on Jul 30, 2008 9:48:57 GMT 1, If seller had no paper trail I would insist on coa now that there available, although if there is a pow order confirmation/protox confirmation, and this can be checked out with dora etc via email, i don't think there is a need of a coa. I would presume it could take up to a month to get one, and most forum members are looking for a relatively quick sale to fund other purchass etc, maybe this is what puts them off ;D

?'s about POW authentication, by Andy'77 on Jul 30, 2008 9:50:03 GMT 1, Am I right in thinking that you don't need to obtain a COA for the more recent prints where all that is required is checking a name against the number? Is the Pest control/POW authentication process more for the older prints where provenance may no longer exist or these details are no longer known?

?'s about POW authentication, by baileymontana on Jul 30, 2008 10:04:55 GMT 1, It took 3 weeks for POW to respond to me to confirm a print was authentic via email. I sent detailed photos and information about the paper trail of the print from previous owners. They asked for credit card details which I gave about 2 weeks ago but I haven't received the COA yet.

Do you get a COA from Pest Control and if so do they charge 50 quid as well?

I'm pretty sure there has always been a charge from both PestControl and POW when they started doing this service.

?'s about POW authentication, by retardthebear on Jul 30, 2008 13:47:44 GMT 1, i emailed Dora and asked the difference about the two forms and she responded saying all the prints go to the same place for authentication whether you Pest cotrol or POW it. Basically, both cost ยฃ50 cos its the same service!
I've been waiting a couple of weeks for authentication on a Toxic Mary.

It is only the older prints that are not accompanied by the confirmation/Protx emails that need the ยฃ50 COA

Let's make one thing clear though - if you have iron-clad provenance (full history of ownership, receipts, bank/cc statements, etc.) you don't neet to rush out and pay ยฃ50 for a COA

What have other people done when they have sent them in. Were they sent framed, un-framed, flat, in tubes, sent in or brought in. Thanks

?'s about POW authentication, by Stella Dore on Aug 4, 2008 23:12:16 GMT 1, If you know the name of the original purchaser that should be enough to verify - thats how we did it in my day at POW, it may have changed a bit now but if you think it seems good and need to close quickly keeping the original name and checking as soon as they answer should do for the future - just telling you how it WAS though, I don't work there anymore so this isn't an official answer

By the way, there are plenty of prints that are from genuine sellers who may not have kept receipts - don't want to confuse matters but for the first few years no one knew that shit would be worth anything (customers that is) so didn't hold on to their original receipts - that especially rings true from rude copper - end 2005.... it was just a nice thing to go on the wall before/between then

?'s about POW authentication, by goffy on Aug 5, 2008 10:43:44 GMT 1, I am the original owner of the Banksy's but like you said who kept receipts then! I am not looking to sell or buy I just want confirmation about my Gangsta Rat as it's signed out of 750 instead of 150. I must admit Dora has been very helpful on this matter a and is doing her best to sort it out for me.
What is the safest way to get the print to POW?
