Help needed please re sending framed print, by popgull2 on Jun 11, 2008 11:28:24 GMT 1, Hello folks,
Any sensible advice would be much appreciated on how best to send a framed print via mail/courier within UK?
Approx total size inc. frame is 64cm x 84 cm.
Realise that no method is 100% safe here, but any guidance would be greatly appreciated as to how to try and minimise chances of breakage/damage...
Any help re who provides best delivery service, best packaging to use (and where to buy it) etc would be great.
Thanks lots...

Most expensive service doesn't always equal best.
Take picture, wrap in bubble, wrap in foamwrap, bubble again. Buy, custom sized cardboard box, shredding, fill, add wrapped package, more shredding, lid, tape. Courier, find prices, insurance, a must, book courier...

Help needed please re sending framed print, by Neverwork on Jun 11, 2008 11:42:19 GMT 1, one thing to remember mate, is the royal mail wont insure framed artwork unless the glass is removed! i'd personally make a wooden shipping crate, and use loads of bubble wrap or the larger stuff pillow wrap? i think its called, the air bubbles are pillow shaped and v. large.

Help needed please re sending framed print, by Poppy Sunshine on Jun 11, 2008 16:12:00 GMT 1, A combination of some of the above. Remove the glass for starters as it could break with the best of packaging and you're knackered for insurance. Then phone Mike from Edge Art. He gives it a box which is 4 times bigger than the piece, then bubble wraps it with about 10 layers, then fills it all up with chewed up paper from some kind of industrial shredder. I'm thinking of framing the packaging as it's a work of art in itself.
