Soozy Lipsey - words/Pics, by slowmo on May 24, 2008 9:06:58 GMT 1, I think the work is very good? This has the feel of great artists steal, lots of elements of readily recognisable artists, Peter Blake, Andrew Mcattee and faile mashed up nicely to give it a nice twist.
Some of these remind me very much of surrealism work, man ray, Dali, modernised and remixed with Jamie Reid thrown in too.

Soozy Lipsey - words/Pics, by jusdeep on May 24, 2008 9:48:00 GMT 1, I agree with Slowmo on this one. Some very nice and refreshing work from someone I have heard very little of. Elements of Dan Baldwin, Hush, Jamie Reid, Faile, Peter Blake to name but a few. I'm definitely going to pop along and have a look. Thanks for the heads up rattus.

Soozy Lipsey - words/Pics, by jusdeep on May 24, 2008 11:08:50 GMT 1, Rural Hick's entitled to his own opinion but posting such negative comments on many artists/posts is just plain pointless. I quite often don't see the artistic merits of many of the artists work on this forum, (art is after all a very personal thing), but if you don't have something constructive to say keep it to yourself - or at least explain why you don't like the work!

Soozy Lipsey - words/Pics, by bubble on May 24, 2008 16:45:07 GMT 1, I can see where Rural Hick is coming from....the lady clearly has some talent and integrity but damn, get your own ideas. Some of the pieces strike me a just a pastiche of the work that inspires her, way too much of that around at the moment. I really really like a couple of the images . She will no doubt find her own voice in time and then she will be one to watch.

Soozy Lipsey - words/Pics, by hopelessquest on May 24, 2008 18:59:14 GMT 1, Apart from Faile, some pieces had echoes of Eine. Yeah maybe that is because that carnival/circus font is used by D*face, Eine, Rugman, Soozy Whatever and the Stella Dore logo and a cover in the first issue of Very Nearly Almost magazine which Stella Dore push, and all of those arists have work in Stella Dore funnily enough. I bet it has nothing to do with the fact that the same people are responsible for a large body of work under different identities because they are trying to maximize their business potential by not having all their eggs in one basket, and I am almost doubley sure it has nothing to do with the fact that these people cannot draw and noticed a funny side effect of that font is that it has all the bridges already present, perfect for stencilling.
Aren't you good graff spotter mates with someone who has something to do with Stella Dore?
Pass.

If it was informative you would have had it on your site and linked it or just had it here, the "I think" in brackets takes the cake. I think you need to stop assuming people are stupid.
