It is indeed. Went to see it as a play with the guy who plays spud in the film playing renton - was brilliant. But the book is superb. Good call.

Not art - Favorite book of all time, by spencerlee on Apr 2, 2008 9:27:15 GMT 1, So many good books... Richard Bachman - The Long Walk
Excellent choice Mike. I have always said this is up there as one of his best.....raw, unrelenting and truly horrific. I've got a copy of the original printing.
To Kill A Mockingbird is a great choice....and it's difficult to pick 1 for me, but possibly the DC Quartet by George Pelecanos which is slightly cheating as it's 4 books....

I saw the title of the thread and was reading the posts, prior to putting my choice and then I saw you had already listed it...
I love this book. I started it about 8 times when I was 14-ish before reading it through and I still have then same well thumbed copy, read many times since...
Also rans are Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister...

Not art - Favorite book of all time, by frank11 on Apr 2, 2008 9:46:57 GMT 1, PaulyPaul- I did exactly the same with Catch-22 i was told to read it by my Dad, just did not get into it until a few years back, now have gone back to and read a few times. The Diceman books are brilliant. Everyone should read The princess bride, makes you feel young again. Also loved Patrick Suskinds Perfume but for me it has to be anything by Hemmingway- "Ask not for who the bell tolls, it tolls for thee!" This is not to mention D**kens, Cervantes and Victor Hugo.
I can not Believe Charles Dickens has been censored
