What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by Imoy-San on Feb 12, 2008 12:39:51 GMT 1, So, I found this hanging off a wall on one of our Sunday morning walks, last year.
The artist is Elbow-Toe, and the piece is almost 7 foot tall.
How the hell should I frame it?
Any suggestions???
Cheers

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by christoffero on Feb 12, 2008 12:56:37 GMT 1, I reckon you might have come up with the best idea already. Lying flat. Everyone puts stuff on the wall, some on the ceiling etc etc but not much goes on the floor. I went into a bar in Majorca last year, (can't remember which one it was one of too many), and they had artwork and sculptures underfoot protected by safety glass. I think in the right place and protected properly you've got an amazing talking point and it's not going to droop under it's own weight. Nice find. Christ

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by JonW on Feb 12, 2008 13:04:50 GMT 1, I assume it would have fallen off and been ruined and that you didnt pull it from the wall? Good lad....
Its funny (not in a joke sense) but we're sticklers for the rules when it comes to street art... anarchy for the world, but no nicking the street art
I was in London one day and there was litter blowing round the street (not far from the old POW offices) and there was a sticker flapping, held by just an edge. I ended up saving it from the litter pile. Id have stuck it back up if I could have. LOL.

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by Imoy-San on Feb 12, 2008 13:05:43 GMT 1, Someone had tried to get it off, and had almost succeeded. I found it hanging in the rain, gradually being ripped.
So, I spent some time and presto!
It was offered back Leonard St Gallery, which they kindly declined on the condition it never makes it on to Ebay. Fine with me!!!
The floor??? I have wooden floors round the house. Maybe when I get the games room done, but that will be quite a wait!

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by JonW on Feb 12, 2008 13:11:41 GMT 1, Rain is the killer for these stickers... sigh...
Like the others I agree that under perspex or glass would work well. Check out the framing pics in Jamie Reid and see the NMTB print between sheets of perspex ... looks good.

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by Jef Aerosol on Feb 12, 2008 14:55:08 GMT 1, it's a beautiful piece indeed and I quite agree that it would be nice under glass on a table. Maybe you can also just paste it up onto a door, the way it's pasted up on the street. A door is fine as you can remove and replace it and take it with you when you move place...

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by Jef Aerosol on Feb 12, 2008 14:57:43 GMT 1, I've already stencilled at some people's places, on doors, so that it's a piece in its own right and can be taken away, or even sold... If you go down Chalk Farm Road from Camden Market, on your right, you'll see an organic coffee shop and they have hung on the wall the door I had pasted up while they were altering the place !

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by Imoy-San on Feb 12, 2008 15:24:26 GMT 1, Ahhh... glass table. The only large table is in my kitchen, which has a glass roof!
Maybe too much sunlight, but then it was intended for the outdoors.

My mind just froze with the endless one liner comebacks Yomster. Lovely little find there mate, I'd paste it on a wall if the glass table option isn't viable or too spendy. Paste it on the wall like the artist intended, just your wall, inside your house.

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by BK83 on Feb 12, 2008 19:02:24 GMT 1, I also have a huge 7ft piece that was personally made for and given to me by Mr Brainwash (the guy behind the LRC movie and from itsawonderful-world.com) -- it's an incredible handsprayed stencil, but I've yet to get around to framing it because it is just too fucking big. but I quite like this idea of framing it horizontally on a table or underfoot ... Thanks for that Nickc -- even if it was just a bit of a joke, I think you are actually on to something.

What do you do with a 7 foot lady?, by Jef Aerosol on Feb 13, 2008 1:33:10 GMT 1, too much light ! ? Come on, don't be like that ! You found it on the street man ! ! ! It's street art ! Reminds me of a reflexion I had the other day while I was painting cardboards and they were piled on the floor, I was almost walking on them, etc... and someone told me to be careful ! ! ! I burst out laughing and said : hey, this is mine ! and it's spraypaint on cardboard ! People like them to be rough and "street like" and then, once they buy them, they want them to be like sacred objects you can't touch and must keep off the sunlight ! isn't that crazy ?
