Macworld Expo, by BK83 on Jan 15, 2008 16:19:41 GMT 1, Macworld Expo going on. Keynote speech by Jobs set for 9am PST which is 5pm London time. Should be interesting. There's talk of a new lightweight macbook called macbook air which apparently will run on flash memory as opposed to standard harddrive spinning memory... light and airy! Who knows if its true though?!
Im fuckin excited.

Macworld Expo, by Michael Jacob on Jan 15, 2008 19:32:14 GMT 1, ill bet cd drives will phase out. you can get flash drives that are larger, and much more stable. I really like the use of flash memory. I know that low-budget third world computer that recently came out, uses it. Go Macs Go!

Macworld Expo, by Michael Jacob on Jan 15, 2008 19:36:19 GMT 1, i just looked into it more, and they still use a hard drive . It also looks like you can use cd's wirelessly through another computer, for stuff like burning cds, and/or installing software. pretty cool.

Macworld Expo, by koolchrissomerset on Jan 15, 2008 19:40:51 GMT 1, i think its more aimed at city boys who need to take a computer with them everywhere and need something superlight, rather than your average user.. for me i need a cd drive, and more HD which is why a macbook or macbook pro is better. also the 1.8ghz isnt fast enough for design and rendering i find. but its very very cool...

I dont think the Macbook Air is meant to have a harddrive? That's the point. it's SSD only.

Starting from ยฃ1,199.
Very nice & cool etc, but personally I'd forgo the thinness, for a DVD drive, faster processor, larger hard drive and cheaper cost of the MacBook.
I think some of the innovations like the track pad, led backlit screen, and large flash drives will become cheaper and find there way to the MacBook and MacBook Pro soon.

Macworld Expo, by koolchrissomerset on Jan 15, 2008 20:20:45 GMT 1, not too sure why changing from a 80gb HD, to a 64SSD and 1.6 to 1.8 should add 800 quid to the price...

I certainly won't be forking out an extra ยฃ800 for the kudos of saying the HD is solid state, and the 1.6 to 1.8 isn't really going to be a jaw-dropping difference is it.

I would agree with that entirely. Looking good for the future though. Especially like the environmental aspects. made of aluminium for better recycling, first lead free and carbon (?) free screens amongst other things...

Macworld Expo, by collector on Jan 16, 2008 0:52:23 GMT 1, Im just tryin to get those new updates for the Touch ;D
Just put them onto my iPod Touch, very nice, glad to have mail and google maps, bit fed up I had to pay for them though (ยฃ12.99 via iTunes Stores). They should of been on it to start with.

Just got mine sorted today ;D
The Maps are brilliant and the option to add direct links to website on the main menu Great stuff from Apple ;D Agee that the upgrade should have been free I looked like if was free for IPhone, but Touch had to pay
