Cairo - Egypt (Help!), by gozgoz on Jan 13, 2008 0:30:51 GMT 1, Guys,
Im looking to go to Egypt next month and am fumbling in the huge mess of hotels.... anyone has a decent one to recommend? Preferably something reasonable comfy and five star.... and good location?
Any pointers anyone?
I was looking at Le Meridien Pyramids but bit worried it'll be boring at night since its so far from town?

Cairo - Egypt (Help!), by Gurn on Jan 13, 2008 0:35:25 GMT 1, There is plenty to do in the El Giza area, can also recommend the Nile Hilton for a more central hotel near Museum etc...also make sure you visit the Citadel(Muhahmed Ali Mosque for views of the city...very very polluted city though, crazy drivers as well

Cairo - Egypt (Help!), by aspyhole on Jan 13, 2008 15:50:34 GMT 1, hey man,
there is a brand new Intercontinental called "City Stars" which is a little out of town (maybe 25mins taxi?) but taxis are really cheap. It is 5star and really really fantastic. I believe reasonable prices too. The City Stars area is a recent developement I believe and has loads of well-known shops and things (not a particluar reason to stay there, but it's nice!)
There are 2 Hiltons in town very close to each other - Nile and another I can't remember. The only complaint is that they feel a bit old (but that is part of the charm!) and the food was awful the one time I ate there.
Also Sheraton + Hyatts but I don't know much about them except that they are in town too.
But yeh, obviously go to Giza but I recommend other pyramids around there like Saqarra which have less tourists!
Let me know how your trip goes!

Cairo - Egypt (Help!), by Gurn on Jan 13, 2008 16:03:03 GMT 1, Third that!!!Think that the other Hilton is called the Ramases..I have travelled a lot in Egypt and whilst I think that Cairo is good(obviously you gotta see the pyramids, including the step pyramid)I actually believe that Luxor is best for a longer stay..Has Sheraton,Hilton and I know the President of Egypt stays at a Hotel called the Isis.Obviously you can get flights from here to Cairo(or a train, which is fun).If you need further info PM me.
