no more left in tubes!!, by guest2 on Jan 4, 2008 21:19:01 GMT 1, got one of my christmas presents off the beautiful wife.can show them all now.and get them out of portfolios and tubes
That puppy is more shiny than Manchester Mikes car! Plus 1 for the browser BigMan,No home is complete without one! I got mine from
www.selwyns.com
Little tip, if you are not in a rush ask when they are doing a trade show and buy the ex demo and the sleeves as well. You'll get up to 30% off and it makes a difference as these things are not cheap, especially if you need lots of sleeves.

no more left in tubes!!, by seidbereit on Jan 5, 2008 16:36:47 GMT 1, That looks great... I bought an old architect's plan chest a while ago and while it's big enough for even things like JD or Applause etc. it just takes up too much room and you can't look at pieces without taking them out. What's the biggest print you could still "safety" keep in a browser? The only thing I'd be worried about would be the print bending or slipping when flipping through them.
What an excellent gift though!! +1 for your missus.

You should keep an eye out in old junk shops cos they're really no use for anything else other than plans, maps, art and the like so the second hand market for them is kind of limited to the architects etc. who got rid of them in the first place.
I got mine for nothing off an architect mate who was moving office and had all new stuff ordered for his new place. All I had to do was pick it up. Ugly as sin though... big grey metal filing cabinet style thing. Starting to get a bad back though from hawking huge cardboard folders out of the bottom drawer for sneeky peeks. The big minus is the amount of floor space it takes though, otherwise its brilliant.

Just noticed I said I bought it above, which isn't strictly true but it did cost about 75 quid for a mover to go pick it up and deliver it, plus about a fiver for wood-filler and paint for the door frames ;D

no more left in tubes!!, by craigf on Jan 5, 2008 17:50:04 GMT 1, For a moment I thought you'd managed to get all your prints onto the wall Bigman! Very nice indeed and possibly something for me to consider. I am getting fed up with my portfolio laying on the floor in my spare room (it doesn't go under my bed ) I think if I sort one of my cupboards off I can hang it on the back wall which will be tidier and safer

Just call them. But they don't sell single sleeves. It's packs of 10 or more I think and when you need the larger sizes to fit the likes of the JD's and GIWTBB's it starts to get expensive.
