Should the big guys hit the streets again?, by otomi on Jan 8, 2008 2:32:22 GMT 1, I noticed that some of the main players are lagging in street presents while some "smaller ones" fly around the world and "keep it real". I really don't mind the fact that they make money - that is really cool and they paid their dues but the genre is street art. Bethlehem was great but not really street even thou outdoor. Don't get angry I'm not dissing any idols here. Everyone needs a break. Just thinking about it.

Should the big guys hit the streets again?, by Studiocromie on Jan 8, 2008 2:50:57 GMT 1, i see what you mean. what i think is that when you have 11 months on 12 booked for shows, the same shows we love to go, and you have to produce things, the same things we love to buy it gets hard to find more time to hit the street.
i would just go to the seaside and relax

Should the big guys hit the streets again?, by pezlow on Jan 8, 2008 10:57:42 GMT 1, So which of the "main players" aren't hitting the streets then.? Excluding the palestine work, Banksy has done quite a few big pieces in london in the last few months. Obey bombs everywhere he goes, faile still do a lot of stuff in New York and hit london when they had their show. You can still see lots of Dface stuff in the east end. Invader is prolific. Eine has done some of the biggest street pieces you are ever likely to see. There is some amazing swoon work on the streets in london at the mo....
Who is it you are referring to then?

I don't think that should ever stop him. After all, alot of the buzz about painting walls is to get your name/message/art noticed. Place the piece in great spots on the street where everyone can see it. And now it's on National TV so the world is seeing Mr B's. And lets face it .... I can't see that wall coming down dude! The guys a joker. 5k for removal, he's havin' a giraffe!

I was meaning, he may concentrate more on stunts... like the Disney / Museum(s) / Paris Hilton ones...
I don't think he'll ever stop painting... maybe picks his targets more carefully... public not private buildings etc...

the peace wall in west belfast would be a good one for him to attach some art to, however it is covered in cctv and you cannot get near either side without people from the other side throwing things over the wall

Should the big guys hit the streets again?, by otomi on Jan 8, 2008 18:25:20 GMT 1, I'm not saying they are not hitting walls at all. (you can stop negging me) But it is usually when they have a show somewhere or in their home town. I started to buy street art so they can do their thing - rent a studio - buy materials - travel etc. I'm glad the artist and the scene get the recognition they deserve. That comes with money and that is great even thou I can afford their stuff but they also don't need my money anymore. I'm happy for the guys/girls. I don't mind if they take time off but my question was - can you be a street artist if you do a couple of actions a year. Banksy will be my hero even if he stops doing anything at all and he had cool pieces last year and I think he is still getting better. They have the funds now to hit the world and make the scene even bigger and if they need bodyguard they can have them too. Why not go to smaller cities and countries that haven't been exposed to street art. I think London is colonized.
So what if they get arrested should be great publicity, except for Banksy who is not anonymous anymore. No one is getting to prison for that anyway and even that would make them a legend.
I was certainly not talking about Eine he is going wild and Obey is strong too.
I just wanted to start a discussion. If you don't like my opinion than leave a post stop the ridiculous negging. I could also start another thread about f5ing.
