should I cut up an Other painted box?, by Coach on Dec 21, 2007 0:14:00 GMT 1, i've got a box on which is a painting by Other which looks really cool. but it's got a photo of some wood cuts stuck down (really well stuck down) on the front. also, cos its a box, its not flat. i want to get it framed. thinking of cutting the lid of the box to just leave the Other painting, so it can be framed. any advice? part of me thinks cutting anything up is just wrong, as it stops being what it was orriginally planned to be. part of me thinks it will just look amazing in a frame. any thoughts? cheers

should I cut up an Other painted box?, by otomi on Dec 21, 2007 8:02:57 GMT 1, We just had that discussion about cutting a Faile box. I personally do not like the idea. The artist made the piece that way for a reason. I don't cut my prints so they fit in a frame that I like. I wouldn't do it. You will regret it at some point.

Let's see some pics

should I cut up an Other painted box?, by Coach on Dec 22, 2007 1:44:32 GMT 1, thanks for the advice chaps. i agree re the faile box. this however is not that type of piece. its a cardboard pizza size box (10 inch), with the painting (i say painting - it's black and white) on the top. the lid could be opened out and framed without any cutting, and that would look great, but for the photo stuck on it. will post sort pic. amazing piece sham69

should I cut up an Other painted box?, by maadbeats on Dec 22, 2007 3:13:33 GMT 1, I will say it again. Hang it by wires from the celling. Do it in a corner of a room. Maybe even throw in a pedicel with a light underneath it to F@#^ with people. I bet it would look really really good.
