getting dvds on to a ipod , by Michael Jacob on Nov 24, 2007 20:50:44 GMT 1, theres a free program called HANDBRAKE. it lets you rip dvds to ipod. it takes forever, but it does a high quality job. i run a g5 and it takes about 12 hours to rip on dvd, but i do it overnight. it stores on your mac itunes, and you just transfer it to your ipod. there are many different settings when doing it, but just use the preset ipod settings, it does near dvd quality. good luck!

Simple stuff.....

have you tried googling it, i did that and found a niffty bit of software that changed the format of video, i was not using it to change to an ipod movie but i noticed that option on there. I own a mac so i guess there's no point in telling you the software is called dvix converter i think. what you could do is start by buying yourself a mac for christmas, it would be the best thing you ever do!

very easy frank. I do this all the time with my friends' iPods if I like their music....
click on "my computer"
open whichever drive your iPod is plugged in to
there will be a list of files/folders -- go to file/properties in the drop down menu and unlock hidden files. a hidden file titled 'music' should appear
now the next bit is really important -- create a new folder in the same place all your other iTunes library music is stored. *** and just copy the contents of the hidden 'music' file into the new folder you have created.
Then simply open your iTunes and import the folder to your iTunes library.
*** this is important becauase if for any reason you move this folder from its original location that you created and copied the contents into, the music files will become unreadable by iTunes.
PM me if any questions.
