Where's the thread about buying cheap a cheap tv?, by Mrs Mouse on Nov 19, 2007 11:19:51 GMT 1, Like it says.
I want to buy a 32" LCD tv. According to Which, the Panasonic range is coming out on top. Does anyone know where I can find a good deal?
There was a thread a few weeks ago about where you can get a good online deal on a tv. I've tried searching for it but can't find it.
Can anyone help me out?
Cheers fellow forum members!

Where's the thread about buying cheap a cheap tv?, by Mrs Mouse on Nov 19, 2007 11:34:08 GMT 1, Thanks for the info
I think I suffer from slight OCD when I'm making a major purchase! I spend ages researching customer reviews, then once I've chosen what I want, I become a bit obsessive about finding the best possible deal. I can't rest until I'm sure I've got the lowest price. If I see it cheaper after buying it, it winds me up no end!
Anyone else like me?

"Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the you are on Sunday night. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, brats you spawned to replace yourselves.Choose your future."

Where's the thread about buying cheap a cheap tv?, by streetgirl on Nov 19, 2007 18:07:09 GMT 1, Mrs Mouse...
Totally the same here, which is why after our recent purchases I've banned myself and partner from going near any electronic stores. Spent a while researching exactly what we wanted and getting the price right.
Couple of things to consider:
1) Make sure it's future proof. HD Ready are cheap because they will be obsolete very soon. As mentioned already look for 1080p Full HD.
2) Decide whether you're after an LCD or a Plasma. There's not much in it, depending on what kind of programs you plan on watching. (Plasma tends to keep up with sports play better than LCD).
3) Are you running through a Sky HD box? Running any 1080p Full HD through a HD box will give you more or less the same kind of visual whether it's LCD or Plasma, which is where you see the difference mentioned in point 2. (There is a significant difference watching in HD on HD).
4) The price you look at and generally see is just for the screen. Beware of all these add ons which are pretty much essential: hdmi cables, monster power supply, brackets/stands, another cable I can't think of right now and insurance...also you might be considering the home cinema package too, check it out, there are tons of deals where these are half price when purchasing a screen.
5) Definitely worth getting various retailers (if you're not internet shopping) to lower their prices dependent on competitor prices. Means a little running around but can save you a couple hundred.
6) See if anyone else you know is in the market for one, shop together, it's amazing the additional extras/discounts they throw at you, when you are potentially going to purchase the same bundle twice over. Push for a discount either way. On top of the offer, we got almost another 20% off + 5 years free full cover insurance.
Ultimately, I kinda looked at it in the same way I might buy any print in the secondary market...if you like it, are happy with it and think you've paid a fair price then just sit back, and enjoy it....in time for the Bond bonanza over Christmas.
Good luck. ;D

Check out these prices, and customer reviews...

S'funny - classic line but spoken by a waste of space smackhead makes it a little less powerful on reflection.

Where's the thread about buying cheap a cheap tv?, by uksnowman on Nov 19, 2007 22:35:57 GMT 1, Another place you might like to try is Costco if it's not too far from you, they have some stonking deals.
I got a Samsung 32" LCD HD for about 5-10% cheaper than the best internet deals at the time last summer. Plus I got to look at it from every angle, and do the typical techy things like see which connections it had and check out the remote for ergonomic viewing pleasure
Probably the best thing about getting it there was the fact they give a 3 year guarantee (in actual fact they told me it would be a lifetime guarantee provided I stayed a member) not sure on that one though.
Plus they have sweets and cakes in party pack size so if you have a sweet tooth like me you'll be overjoyed!
