Hanging your stuff!, by stuey09 on Nov 17, 2007 21:01:40 GMT 1, Don't get hung up (see what I did there ;D) on the age of the potential protagonist Rupert. My eldest wants to have some of her Uni friends round to celebrate her 21st birthday next month. God help 'em if they touch any of my pictures.

Hanging your stuff!, by Harveyn on Nov 17, 2007 21:16:00 GMT 1, Cracka / Rupert - You see thats the problem. The good old Obo nail would do just fine, did not even think about it, just came naturally.......
Stu - Being a late starter (41 years old with a 3 year daughter) I am working on the basis that by the time she gets to 21 years old she will be to embarrassed to bring hers mates home.
Edit: She will have moved out... ;D ;D ;D ;D
On a serious note I spent my whole life centered around my career only to discover that the greatest thing in life are children. Absolutely nothing comes close (especially when she calls my Sid & Nancy painting Sid & Prancy).

Brilliant. Had always wondered the strongest methods of getting hefty pieces on walls though. Good thread.

Hanging your stuff!, by a4mnt on Nov 17, 2007 21:35:18 GMT 1, I find a rawlplug and long screw are fine in stud walls. I have my framed JD and denning metre wide metal canvas hung on stud walls and not going anywhere.
i do worry about me or my flatmates coming home pissed and sliding along the wall, so i might do what CBL suggested and put the screw through the middle of a brass picture hanger, that way at least you have a small lip/hook to save your beautifully framed pieces.
can't resist posting this again ;D

Hanging your stuff!, by a4mnt on Nov 17, 2007 22:05:55 GMT 1, I think Stuey needs some of those for the forthcoming 21st birthday ;D
But if he and Sham 69 decide to take one pic home each, then it sets off an alarm and a metal cage shuts down around the whole room.
I'm not sure if its a little overkill?

Jeez, Is this thread still going? ;D
Makita make crap drills, the chucks slip when they've had a bit of use.
If you're collecting Art, then you can afford a Hilti.
